| “ | I purge the wicked. The impious madness must end. I shall be the instrument of Armageddon. It has gotten out of hand. The end has begun. | „ |
| ~ Jesus' speech at the start of Inundation |
Jesus Christ, the Savior, also known as Jebus, Dr. Jebediah Christoff, and Jeb for short, is a major antagonist turned overarching protagonist in the Madness Combat series.
He was an agent of A.A.H.W. and the rival of Hank J. Wimbleton, seeing him as the cause of the madness in Nevada and seeking to kill him to restore order. Later on he rebels against the leader of the A.A.H.W., the Auditor, in order to end his machinations of causing chaos. Though he ultimately died during his defection against The Auditor, he succeeded in bringing about the destruction of one of the Drives, commencing a Normality Restoration event that is ongoing, and will conclude when the other drives are destroyed or otherwise incapacitated.
His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Admirable?[]
In General[]
- Unlike some other characters in the series, Jesus doesn't cruelly kill people and only sees it as a necessary means to do what he thinks is right.
- Is shown to care for and have good friendships with Sheriff, whom he en-tasked to help him stop Phobos on separate occasions.
- Despite opposing Hank, he still shows respect for him, such as allowing him to get up in Depredation, giving him a mercy kill after he was constantly killed and revived by Tricky in Consternation, and was willing to put aside his differences with him in order to stop Phobos in Project Nexus.
Project Nexus (Classic)[]
- Created the Sleepwalker Program, a project meant to help people better themselves by quickly reliving another person's life events with good intentions.
- Defected from Project Nexus upon realizing it was being weaponized by Phobos.
- Killed Phobos from using Project Nexus to take over Nevada and ultimately saved it.
Project Nexus[]
- Seems to have a genuine frienship with The Sheriff, even asking him for help to.
- Goated Sheriff & M.E.R.C to save a lot of innocent civilians during a zombie outbreak, showing that he did care about normal Nevadean inhabitants.
- He reconciles with Hank and forms an alliance with him, understanding that they should work together to stop the bigger enemy.
- Although he does not fully trust Hank, it is completely understandable as Hank himself is a very violent person, who eventually betrayed Jeb.
- He's shown to be quite affable to Sanford and Deimos, even prompting Deimos to hack Nexus Core's tech instead of doing it himself, with implications being that Jebediah wants Deimos to shine and hone his own skills.
- Once again saves Nevada from Phobos alongside Hank, Sanford, and Deimos.
- After this he planned to restore Project Nexus and accomplish its original goal.
- Despite openly disliking him, he apparently agrees to work with The Auditor to save the world from an incoming threat.
Madness Combat (series)[]
- Joined A.A.H.W. to stop Hank for his murders and aims to kill him to restore order in Nevada.
- Quits A.A.H.W. in 5.5 and tries to stop participating in the violence in Antipathy before he ultimately decides to stop the madness altogether in Consternation.
- In Inundation, he goes out of his way to try and destroy all of the improbability drives in Nevada and thwart the Auditor and A.A.H.W. to stop the madness, which results at the cost of his life as The Auditor kills him after he activated the normality restoration, believing that it will save reality.
- During this he also spares an innocent A.A.H.W trader, despite initially aiming on him and him witnessing Jebediah's massacre.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- He is On & Off, as he also did a lot of bad things and served as a villain on multiple occasions.
- He is far too lethal and brutal to be PG or NPG, on top of this he is also extremely sadistic, as he occasionally derives a clear pleasure from killing his enemies in the increasingly brutal and painful ways.
- Has a holier than thou personality and is even stated to be an overall violent person who isn't touchy feely.
- Was stated to have a skewed idea of what is good and evil as well as not being the hero he makes himself out to be. This is best shown when he kills everyone responsible for Project Nexus under the pretense of justice, giving him some Moral Agency Issues.
- Was willing to let Nexus City fall, albeit only to prevent Phobos from causing further damage to Nevada, so this is a minor prevention.
- He's extremely arrogant and egotistical, the reason why he stopped his allyship with Doc was because Jebediah deemed only himself to be the someone "Who saves Nevada from perils it is awaits".
- He manipulated his own colleague Dr. Hofnarr to assist him in the defeat of Director Phobos, and then callously left him alone in the infected Nexus City, don't even showing any hints of remorse even after he met already an insane and dead Hofnarr (As Tricky the Clown) decades later nor was he worried about his current state.
- Although he pursued good goals, him destroying improbability drive was said to had done only worse to Nevada.
- While he did found Sleepwalker Program with greater intentions to stop Crackpot's zombie program, it is shown clearly that it caused his own patients to suffer both physically and mentally (Perhaps not as badly like in Crackpot's project but still) and later on, he doesn't feel regret for it despite being fully aware of this.
Trivia[]
- Jebediah is currently the only Madness Combat character to be Inconsistently Admirable, although some others likely can qualify as well.
- Had the series ended in "Redeemer" if fans didn't want the series to go on, his actions would not even fall under well-natured due to not showing his good personality he had in later episodes as well as having zero genuinely heroic deeds he had in the future episodes, despite the series being more comedic in its early episodes.
