â | I know who I am now. I am not simply what others want me to be. I am not destined to a fate I can't control. I evolved beyond this world. This is not the end of me or the X-Men. It's a new beginning. | â |
~ Jean Grey. |
Jean Grey is one of the main characters in the X-Men film series.
She is mutant telepath and one of the first students of Professor Charles Xavier, as well as a member of the superhero team X-Men. Jean was born with incredible destructive abilities, which made her one of the most powerful mutants. Fearing that Jean would not be able to control her psychic powers, Xavier placed psychic blocks in her subconscious and suppressed the alter ego known as Phoenix.
She is portrayed by Famke Janssen as an adult, Sophie Turner and Summer Fontana as a child. In X-Men: The Official Game, she was voiced by Katherine Morgan.
Her Good Ranking[]
What Makes Her Admirable?[]
In General[]
- She is one of the smartest, strongest and most competent members of the X-Men team, and even insisted that Senator Kelly allow the Law to register the rights of Mutants. She is also a good doctor, able to cure Wolverine and Charles Xavier. Also, her telepathic abilities helped the heroes in the absence of Professor X.
- She genuinely cares about her teammates, in particular Scott Summers (her lover) and Professor X, and was even willing to sacrifice her life to save them.
Original Timeline[]
- At some point, she enrolled in Xavier's "School for Gifted Teenagers" and became one of his first students, along with Scott Summers and Ororo Monroe, known as Cyclops and Storm. Subsequently, a love relationship was formed between Jean and Scott.
- When Wolverine was seriously injured and lost consciousness, she nursed him, and eventually brought him to his senses, after which he began to fall in love with her.
- When Magneto's accomplice Mystic entered the School and damaged the Cerebro, Jean repaired the device, and, with its help, discovered Magneto's location.
- Together with Cyclops, Storm and Wolverine, she stopped Magneto and his Brotherhood of Mutants, thereby preventing their villainous plans, and saved Rouge.
- Realizing that the blown-up dam will not allow the plane with the team to take off, Jin sacrifices himself to contain the flood to allow the plane with the X-Men to take off, and seemingly dies.
Revised Timeline[]
- As in the original timeline, here she joined the mutant school, and became one of them.
- While in William Stryker's hideout, along with Cyclops and Night Serpent, she freed the imprisoned Wolverine, and then reunited with Mystique, Beast, and Quicksilver, in order to prevent the evil mutant Apocalypse from inhabiting the body of Charles Xavier.
- As a result, it is she who destroys the Apocalypse with her Phoenix power, thereby preventing his plan to destroy all mankind.
- She, along with other X-Men, took part in the rescue of astronauts.
- She sincerely repented that she accidentally killed Mystique in a fit of wrathful, and she was looking to Magneto for a way to ease her pain.
- She stopped listening to Vuk's manipulations, and eventually sacrificed her life to destroy her and the Phoenix Power, as well as prevent the aliens from exterminating all of humanity.
What Makes Her Inconsistent?[]
- She has a wrathful side called Phoenix, which manifests itself when she gets angry, and under its influence she loses control of herself and turns into an outright villainess who commits very heinous acts, including the murders of Scott, Charles and Mystique, and even an attempt to destroy humanity. It corrupts her too much for PG or NPG.
- Sometimes she is jerkish, like telling Scott his head is empty when they first meet for instance.
