~ Carter to Lee when he didn't respond to Carter. |
Detective James Carter is one of the two main protagonists (alongside Inspector Lee) of the Rush Hour film series.
He is an arrogant LAPD detective who disliked working with partners until he gets paired with Inspector Lee and they did not get along at first, but later became friends.
He was portrayed by Chris Tucker.

What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- Despite losing his selfishness in the first film, he still has moments of jerkishness, egotism, and arrogance after his development, such as sometimes mistreating Lee and not taking important problems seriously.
- He can be racist at times, especially towards Asian people, and even insulted Lee upon first meeting him, and once arrested 2 Iranians out of prejudice and 9/11 histeria, until realizing they're actually scientists who were researching cures at the UCLA.
- He is very reckless as he blew up Clive's car with a C4 inside and blowing the sting operation (although he was trying to stop Clive) and sometimes getting himself and Lee in trouble.
- He is lethal and aggressive as he brutally interrogated a French assassin and was willing to shoot him in the head if he did not talk and held the taxi driver, George at gunpoint after he insulted the NBA and Halle Berry and forced him to sing the National Anthem.
- He slapped an innocent man on the helmet riding a motorcycle to ride it to catch Lee.
- He was willing to let Warren Russ die at the hands of Sang after he dismissed him from the assignment of saving Soo-Yung.
- He sometimes blames Lee for something he did himself.
- He is perverted, as he joked about sleeping with Tania Johnson and asked what color panties she had on, enjoyed watching Isabella undress with binoculars along with Lee, and made the french actresses in the dressing room strip naked after lying about being their costume supervisor named "Bubbles".
