John Jackson "Jack-Jack" Parr is a supporting character from The Incredibles, the titular character of the short film Jack-Jack Attack, and a major character in its sequel, Incredibles 2. He is the infant son of Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl, and the younger brother of Violet Parr and Dash Parr. He gained his superpowers during the events of the short, Jack-Jack Attack and developed them in another short, Auntie Edna. Despite being amoral and slightly mischievous, he has courageously defied Syndrome and played a crucial role in stopping the evil Screenslaver and her scheme to defame all superheroes for a very long time.
He is voiced by Maeve Andrews in the first film and short and by Eli Fucile in the second film and its own short.
His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Admirable?[]
In General[]
- He has always had a good relationship with his parents and siblings, and despite his family's arguments and conflicts, he didn't show any bitterness or anger about it.
- He ironically has the least amount resources in spite of his vast powers, due to being a baby, yet his most admirable acts are still admirable, like taking off his mother’s mind control glasses so she could stop Lucius and Bob’s control, which would lead to everyone breaking free from the control.
The Incredibles[]
- After Syndrome attempted to kidnap him, he helped his family defeat him by injuring him with his superpowers.
- He along with his family helped Dash in the Metroville elementary school race.
- After a new villain called the Underminer rises, he along with his family prepared to fight him as superheroes.
Incredibles 2[]
- When the Underminer was attacking Municiberg, he helped his family stop him and his machine from destroying the city (especially the city hall). He also took no issue with being in a stroller during the majority of the action, even while his siblings hated having to protect their own baby brother.
- After being taken to Edna Mode to be cared for a time, he bonded with her.
- He had a fun time with his father and siblings by proving his new super suit and powers.
- He teamed up with Violet, Dash, and Frozone to save themselves from being kidnapped by the evil Evelyn Deavor’s mind-controlled supers, and escaped.
- After realizing that Evelyn brainwashed his mother, his father, Frozone, and the other new supers, he along with his sister Violet and brother Dash went to DevTech boat to save them. When he found his mother, he used his telekinesis to free her from Evelyn’s mind control. Then he, along with his family and Frozone freed all the supers from Evelyn’s mind control.
- He, along with his family, Frozone, and Voyd saved Municiberg from being crushed by DevTech boat and stop Evelyn Deavor.
- After, the supers become legal again, he and his family began a new life as a full legal superhero family, protecting Municiberg and fighting crime.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- He is too amoral to be NPG. He is objectively as amoral as any other toddler, having multiple moral agency issues because of his age, being far too young to have the cognitive ability to determine righteous actions consistently. Furthermore, he only chooses to fight for good because the Parr family takes care of him while Syndrome and other villains do the polar opposite.
- In his demon form, he grows even more amoral as his only motive is to destroy and even continues to bit Helectrix’s leg in the boat scene, rip out Syndrome’s hair and strangle him, or biting his dad’s arm, and even if Syndrome deserved that, the temporarily demonic baby did all three incidents out of pure feral instinct.
- He has a questionable characterization as his very young age prevents him from displaying a sufficient personality and not much is given from him beyond his cheerfulness, affection, and childlike curiosity with absolutely nothing beyond those three basic traits.
- In his demon form, he has even less characterization as he is solely a wrathful eldritch being with nothing beyond that one trait of his.
- There are moments where he acts mischievous and lethal, such as scaring his babysitter Kari McKeen and trashing the Parr residence in the mix and beating up a raccoon, while he obviously didn't know any better, he certainly didn't have any kind of altruistic motive for messing with her at all.
Trivia[]
- Much like Din Grogu, his Inconsistently Admirable status is ironic, since he is one of the most popular Pixar characters of recent years mostly owing to how adorable and innocent he is.
