His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Admirable?[]
In General[]
- He helped the rest of the cast in multiple adventures across the series.
- Despite the high admirable standards, Iago stands out for being the only one in the second movie that could defeat Jafar as a genie.
- After redeeming, Iago loses his murderous traits and becomes less greedy, to the point where throughout the animated TV series he is able to put his greedy ambitions aside if it meant helping his friends and maintaining their trust with him.
- Even when his actions went too far from either greed or cowardice, Iago always made sure to make up for it to undo his mistake.
The Return of Jafar[]
- He gave up on Jafar and retired from villainy at the start of the sequel and slowly started to care about Aladdin after saving him from Abis Mal and his conspirators.
- Using reverse psychology, he made Jasmine forgive Aladdin after lying to her about Iago.
- While he helped Jafar frame Aladdin, it was reluctantly, and he would make up for it later on after Jafar left the dungeon under the disguise of Jasmine to watch Aladdin be executed by Razoul.
- He broke the Genie's prison, allowing him to save Aladdin, Jasmine, Sultan, Abu and Carpet.
- In the final battle, he tried to destroy Jafar's lamp, even after taking several attacks that almost killed him, and with the last of his strengths, pushed his lamp to the lava, killing him for good.
- While he did destroy Jafar by kicking his lamp into the lava, he only did it since Jafar was too dangerous to remain alive in Agrabah since he tried to conquer and rule the universe. As a result, it allows peace to be restored to Agrabah once again.
Aladdin TV Series[]
- When Sadira wiped the memories of everyone in Agrabah, he, Abu and Rajah managed to get them back, as the spell doesn't work with animals, by making Jasmine and Aladdin kiss.
- He got Thundra's magical amulet back from Malcho
- He tried to save some kids along with Abu when they fell off a hole.
- While he does a lot of disastrous things while using his magic, Iago makes up for it all and fix things up, admitting to the Genie magic and its responsibilities are really hard.
- He and Genie recover a magical gem to prevent their friends form being locked in time forever.
- When a prophecy said that Iago should release an ancient evil (Amuk Moonrah) and defeat it afterwards, he places the blame in Genie, who tries to defeat it, but fails. He makes up for it by using all of his courage to take down the beast, but then it looks like Genie made it, and he gains all of the credit. Iago, however, doesn't care, and smiles proudly because he did what was right.
- He used his voice-imitation abilities to trick the giant jackal and prevent it from destroying the Agrabah.
- He saved Aladdin from Ayam Aghou, despite it being his fault he was released, he managed to make the spirit touch the figurehead he imprisioned Aladdin in, switching places once again.
- He saves Thundra from Mechanicles when he was destroying her forest, and defeated him with a little help from the Genie, endangering himself in the process.
- When kicked out of the palace by the Sultan, instead of revolting, he tries to win his trust back, by saving him when he was turned into a small golden statue.
Aladdin and the King of Thieves[]
- He leads Aladdin and Jasmine to Aladdin's father, Cassim, so they can save him.
- At the end of the third movie, he becomes Cassim's new travelling companion, saying goodbye to Aladdin and the gang.
Disney Princess Enchanted Tales: Follow Your Dreams[]
- When Abu let the horse Sahara run loose, Iago interrogates Abu into telling truth about his careless action.
- Despite having second doubts, he helps Jasmine find Sahara by using his wits to track down the horse.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- Even after redeeming himself, he is still too greedy and jerkish to be NPG.
Trivia[]
- He is currently the only Aladdin character to be Inconsistently Admirable.
- Furthermore, he, along with Tinker Bell, Cogsworth, Philotectes, Mushu and Maui are the only six Disney sidekicks to be Inconistently Admirable.
- Speaking of which, he and Cogsworth are the two IA characters that are sidekicks to a NPG hero; Iago, Aladdin; Cogsworth, Beast.
