Huey Freeman is one of the two main protagonists (along with Riley Freeman) of the comic strip and its 2005 animated series The Boondocks.
He is voiced by Regina King.
His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Admirable?[]
- He regularly acts as the voice of reason not only in his family, but also among the cast in the series.
- He calls out every black person in the court for supporting R. Kelly despite the fact that he is clearly in the wrong.
- He trains his grandfather Robert in order to prepare him for his fight against Stinkmeaner.
- When Dr. Martin Luther King Jr was labeled as a terrorist, Huey inspired him to go back being a civil rights activist by creating a revolutionary party.
- When his lawyer neighbor Tom Dubois is falsely accused of murder, Huey went out on his mission to find the real killer along with Riley, Ed III and Rummy.
- Huey saves Jazmine from being forced to sell lemonade and have "Sammy Davis Jr." the pony by Ed Wuncler Sr.
- Huey saves a falsely accused prisoner who was facing a death row.
- When Stinkmeaner's spirt possesses Tom, Huey, along with Riley, Robert and Ruckus, performs an exorcism with violence. However, Huey realizes that the exorcism cannot be successful through violence, but with peace, which led to the mission being completed.
- Along with Riley, Huey rescues Robert from his acting career when they discovered the theatre group is actually a homoerotic evangelistic cult by derailing the play.
- When the Fried Chicken Flu arises, Huey concocts a survival plan to help those staying at the Freeman house.
- Huey, alongside Ruckus, saves Dan the Security Man by escorting him out of Wuncler Plaza before the building exploded and collapsed.
- Huey rallies everyone else who is in debt and forced to work in Ed Wuncler Jr's slave-owning amusement park Freedomland to rebel and regain their freedom, as well as being free from being in debt to Ed Wuncler Jr.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- He is an extremist, as he tends to take unscrupulous methods in order to achieve his goals, regardless of how much it hurts the people around him.
- He is also quite wrathful and violent to the point he attacks those out of his instincts and rarely warns those who are hostile to him until it's too late.
- Despite his obedience to his grandfather, he tends to be very rebellious and defiant to authority.
- Even for good merit, he is seen breaking the law/taking matters into his own hands multiple times
- He is an anti-hero, as his cynical outlook and pessimistic approach tends to drive the people he cares about away and occasionally escalate problems he is trying to solve.
- He is also brutally honest to the point of being insensitive and unpleasant at times.
- While he isn't as heinous as Riley and Robert, Huey has his share of anti-villainous roles.
