Herobrine is a major character in the Animation vs. Minecraft series, an Animator vs. Animation spin-off, serving as the main antagonist of the original Animation vs. Minecraft and a major character in the AvM Shorts (as an unseen antagonist in Season 1 and a major character in Season 3).
He is a hostile entity from Minecraft that possessed Red and tried to steal Minecraft and its powers for himself. After his defeat, he would be somehow resurrected and would become the teacher of his Monster School, where he would cross paths with Red yet again.
Unlike the other mobs who helped the Stick Gang fight against and defeat King Orange, Herobrine isn't really a good person nor does he care about the fate of the world or his allies, only coming to save his students from certain doom and leaving the second they're all okay.
His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Admirable?[]
- While he does train his students into becoming murderers and will force them to attend his classes, he genuinely cares for them and is nice to them, high-fiving Zombee and then coming in to save the Yellow Team from King Orange.
- When Endie, Skellington and Spider all skipped school, he went to find them and bring them back home. Given how he orders Skellington to go through the portal the second he finds him instead of telling him to wait until he gets Endie and Spider, it's clear he's genuinely worried for their safety and wants them to go back home as soon as possible.
- After Skellington shows him Endie and Spider are in danger from King Orange, Herobrine personally challenges him to a fight and puts up a good fight, almost winning if King Orange didn't learn how to absorb mobs into his sceptre.
- He forgives King Orange for his crimes following his redemption, realising he's changed for the better.
- He quickly accepts the Warden as another students, takes him back to his school and presumably grows to care for him later on.
- It's implied he eventually reminded himself who Red was, as he possesses him and creates a giant obsidian golem the same way he did in Animation vs. Minecraft. Despite this, Herobrine doesn't hold any grudges against him and lets him go following King Orange's defeat.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- He's morally grey and an anti-hero due to being less of a hero and more of a horrible person who just happened to commit one good deed in his life, as he trains his students into murdering innocent people, feels zero remorse for possessing Red (during which he was fully aware of his surroundings) and trying to murder his friends while controlling him, and it's implied he would've murdered King Orange if he won. Other than Endie, Skellington and Spider, he doesn't care about anyone involved in the battle and doesn't try to save them all, simply being focused on his own agenda.
- He is on and off as he spent his whole life a villain, briefly became a hero to stop a worse threat and then returned back to being evil (or rather, training others into being evil, but the point still stands).
- He's a hero by proxy as he doesn't want to be a good person, only temporarily stopping being a villain for his own goals.
- He's wrathful, lethal and vengeful as shown while fighting King Orange, his body language making it clear he's furious at him for putting his students in mortal danger, brutally fighting him and seemingly wanting to outright kill him; something only one other character tried, the Titan Ravager, which caused shock and hesitation among the other heroes.
