~ Quagmire's iconic catchphrase. |
Gleonard "Glenn" Quagmire (born Glenn Quagglecheck) is one of the two tritagonists (alongside Joe Swanson) of the adult animated sitcom series Family Guy. He is the sex-crazed and perverted neighbor of the Griffins, who is one of Peter Griffin's best friends.
He is voiced by show creator Seth MacFarlane, who also voices Peter, Stewie and Brian Griffin in the same series, Stan and Roger Smith in American Dad!, and Ted in Ted
His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Admirable?[]
- He volunteers at a soup kitchen regularly.
- Out of duty for his country, he served his country's navy, partially wanting to follow in his father's footsteps.
- While he's against it at first, he eventually supports his father with his/her gender change operation.
- He saved a plane and all of the passengers' lives while helping to stop the terrorists.
- He's a good father to Anna Lee and does everything he can to protect her until she ends up with a good adoptive family.
- Despite being enemies, he supports Brian after losing his teeth in an accident and hooks him up with his dentist with nothing to gain and started to become more tolerable to Brian in the later series.
- He helped save a woman's life by giving her CPR (even though he had no idea what CPR was).
- He defended his sister, Brenda, from her abusive boyfriend, Jeffery.
- When Brian shows up at his house while she is being abused, he stands up for her (and his deaf brother, Gary) when he thinks Brian is insulting them.
- Later on, he stages an intervention to convince Brenda to break up with Jeffery.
- When faced with no other options, he has Peter and Joe help him lure him to a campsite so they can kill Jeffery and stop his abuse.
- He gives Meg advice on how to stand up to her bully, Michael Pulaski, by being as gross as possible, which likely saves her life and helps her defeat him.
- When Peter became a huge jerk after winning the lottery, he still helped pay him and his family enough money to get back their original life after all he had done.
- He raises his illegitimate daughter, Courtney, after taking a DNA test.
- He develops a friendship and bond with Stewie when he accidentally takes him to Paris and tries to look for him when he goes missing.
- He opens up a cat café out of a desire to do something good with his life for once.
- Despite his horny tendencies around Lois, when the two go on a high school reunion together, he refuses to have sex with her out of being his best friend's wife.
- Though he’s not as heroic as Stewie, who saved the entire universe, Quagmire could never do that even if he wouldn’t too as Stewie had a bunch of gadgets and is a genius mastermind.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- Like with many other characters in this show, he is On & Off, due to him usually having villainous roles.
- He is a renowned serial rapist who has crossed the Moral Event Horizon in too many ways to count (including sexual crimes towards minors and animals), up to the point that he stands out in this show's infamously high Heinous Standards.
- He is not above having sex with his friends wives'. He had sex with Cleveland's wife, Loretta, and caused their divorce. He also stalks Lois and has made numerous attempts on her.
- He is often times arrogant and has a tendency to brag about his sexual encounters.
- He can be a jerk and lash out at his friends when they say slightly stupid things or for no reason, although it is arguably justifiable towards Peter.
- He was initially stubborn towards his father Ida's transition, getting mad and considering her as an embarrassment.
- He is often a jerk to Brian, even when Brian doesn't actually antagonize him.
- While this is justified in some way, he is still rude to him even when Brian tries to make amends with him.
- He is also shown to be a massive hypocrite since he accuses him of hitting on his best friend's wife among other bad stuff, while he does the same.
- This is the fact of him being a serial perverted rapist counts as himself being much worse than Brian being a pretentious alcoholic bore.
Trivia[]
- He used to be a Heroic Benchmark, due to most of his actions being bog-standard. When it was deemed untrue, however, his role in saving all the lives of the plane is one of the main reasons he was approved as Inconsistently Admirable since everyone in the plane would have all been killed had it not been for Glenn's bravery.
- As a result, he, along with Peter Griffin, Stan Smith and Roger Smith, are the only four Seth MacFarlene characters to be both Inconsistently Admirable/Inconsistently Heinous at the same time.
