~ Ginty |
Ginty is a minor character in The Dark Knight, one of Harvey Dent's convicted felons. Despite his limited screentime and status as a criminal, Ginty has one of the most admirable acts in the entire trilogy.
He was played by the late Tom Lister.
His Goodness Ranking[]
What Makes Him Admirable?[]
- When the Joker revealed his plan to have one of the ferries blow up the other for their survival (one containing innocent civilians and the other contains convicted criminals), Ginty takes it on himself to get the detonator from the prison warden. Once he succeeds in doing so, Ginty throws the detonator out the window, saving the hundreds of innocent lives that were on the other ferry in the process. All with much lower resources than Batman or Jim Gordon.
- What makes this even more admirable, is that Ginty fully expected the other boat to blow theirs up in the process. Meaning he thought he was making a heroic sacrifice in the process.
- Eight years later during Bane's reign of terror, Ginty refuses to work with Bane despite many other Blackgate prisoners being freed and working under him.
- Despite being a criminal who is in prison, it is entirely unknown as to why; he could very well have been framed for something atrocious, which makes for Fridge Horror. Especially considering that he is a black man in the late 2000s.
- While he is not as admirable as Batman or James Gordon, it is not really fair to compare him to them as his resources are basically nonexistent.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- He lacks sufficient characterization due to his limited screentime.
