Evil people aren't the exception to the rule, they are the rule
~ To Aaron after he questions they're rule to keep saving people.
I'm opening these gates and saving these people, I'll kill anyone who tries to stop me.
~ Gabriel when he goes to open the gates to Pamela's safehouse.

He is portrayed by Seth Gilliam.

His Good Ranking[]

What Makes Him Admirable?[]

  • He helps protects Oceanside when walkers attack.
  • He helps fight against The Saviors in the battle of Alexandria.
  • He goes completely out of his way to save Gregory when they are surrounded by walkers, even when he could've easily drove off with his car.

  • When he and Alexandria's are deciding rather to execute Negan for Margo's death, he takes the night off to think about, reluctant to say yes.
  • He gives a eulogy to Siddiq after Dante kills him and helps bury him, and then later avenges him by killing Dante.

  • For three years, Gabriel went to meet with Jadis to convince her to change for the better, showing no contempt towards her for her comunity not helping Alexandria during the Whisperer War, and even going to meet her even after she almost killed him. This ended up working, as Jadis decided to tell Rick and Michonne about where the files about Alexandria were hidden in the bases of the CRM, allowing them to save it and everyone in it.
  • While he started off as a selfish coward, this is completely subverted by the end of the series as he is brave and usually goes out of his way to save people.

What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]

  • He has many moments of lethality like murdering Dante while he's already imprisoned, murdering a reaper trying to offer peace, wanting to torture Gamma and other whisperers to break them and bashing in Mays head after he freed them. Even in his goodness crossing moment, he threatens to kill anyone who tries to stop him from opening the gates.
  • He coldly dismissed Gage's death and gave him a disrespectful eulogy, calling him a coward and a broken shell of a man. While Gage was a jerk and is to blame for his own death, he was just a scared kid and didn't deserve to get eaten alive like that.
