The GTA Online Protagonist, known simply as the GTA Online character or Online Protagonist, is the titular main protagonist of Grand Theft Auto: Online. They are an entirely player-created, silent character with no official name, voice, or fixed personality.
They're recruited by Lamar Davis at the beginning of the game and gradually become an influential figure in Los Santos' underworld.
In-game, they can be voiced by the player themselves.

What Makes Them Admirable?[]
- In story missions, they kill various gang members, drug dealers, and murderers (including other players).
- In The Contract, they help Franklin get his agency off the ground, allowing him to turn his life around and go legit.
- They stopped the hackers who stole Dr. Dre's unreleased music.
- During The Cluckin’ Bell Farm Raid, they helped LSPD officer Vincent Effenburger expose a massive corruption and drug ring while aiding law enforcement in taking down a cartel front.
- They would later help Vincent out again during Dispatch Work side missions, taking down various gangsters, corrupt cops and drug dealers, as well as stopping several terrorists from blowing up buildings and city infrastructure.
- They saved the entire world by preventing Avon Hertz and Clifford from waging nuclear war during The Doomsday Heist, which is by far the most admirable act in the entire franchise.
What Makes Them Inconsistent?[]
- All of their admirable deeds are done out of practicality rather than genuine heroism, often under the orders of others, making them more of a hero-by-proxy.
- Outside of story missions and DLC, their actions are almost entirely villainous or at the very least, far from heroic. They rob multiple banks, kill innocents, engage in illegal street racing, drug dealing, and ultimately aim to build a criminal empire to amass as much wealth as possible.
- They lack any real personality of their own, with whatever traits they display being entirely shaped by the player's choices. On top of that, their backgrounds are virtually nonexistent.
