I'm sure you don't want to hear this, since I caused a similar incident... And I already know that a guy like me has no right to say this to you but... But...when I look at you, I just have to say something...! You don't need to act so stubborn, you know? 'Cause...I know what you're going through. The only reason you're standing here right now...is because someone sacrificed himself for you... You feel guilty about that. Isn't that right? So you don't want to be honest about it, huh... Well, I understand that feeling too... But like he said, it's better to just be alive... It might hurt to look at his painful appearance right now... But you're much better off because at least he's still alive! I mean...for me... S-Sorry... Right now...I feel very grateful to her... But I can't tell her that anymore. But you're different. So... Make sure you tell him how grateful you are...
~ Fuyuhiko to Akane about Nekomaru and the late Peko.

Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu is a recurring protagonist within the Danganronpa franchise, serving as the tritagonist of Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair and a supporting character in Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School Despair and Hope arc and Danganronpa 2.5: Nagito Komaeda and the World Vanquisher.

He was born the heir to the Kuzuryu clan and spent time with his servant, Peko Pekoyama, who would assist him as much as she could. With this, he was dubbed the Ultimate Yakuza. However, because of his status as a member of the Kuzuryu clan and the clan's reputation, he claims that his last name is a heavy burden on him and is always met with suspicion as soon as they hear his last name. Unbeknownst to his acquaintances, he doesn't have many of the qualities of a Yakuza, and he thinks that his talent serves more as "bragging rights" than it does as an actual talent.

He is voiced by Daisuke Kishio in the Japanese version of both the game and anime, Derek Stephen Prince in the English version of the game (who also voiced Kokichi Oma in Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony), and by Aaron Dismuke in the English dubbed anime.

His Good Ranking[]

What Makes Him Admirable?[]

  • Despite being a Yakuza, he hardly possesses many of the qualities of a Yakuza and sees his trait of being a gangster as more of a burden than a gift.
  • He was close, caring, and protective of his little sister, Natsumi and of his loyal companion Peko.
  • Even though Fuyuhiko is greatly affected by the aphrodisiacs Hiyoko added while Teruteru is still cooking them, he desperately tries to prevent Kazuichi from molesting Sonia.
  • He attends a welcome-back party even when he initially doesn't want to go but does it because he knows how hard Chiaki worked on the party.
  • He shows concern for Peko and why she is neglecting her stuff and only helping him pack his stuff, so he helps her despite Peko's objections.
  • He orders a contact to check Mikan's well-being when she hasn't been around.
  • After seeing how injured Peko is, he immediately runs over to her, helps her out and swears to enact retribution onto Mukuro for causing this suffering to Peko.
  • None of the things that Fuyuhiko did as a remanent of despair was his fault as, similarly to the rest of his class, he was brainwashed into despair by Junko Enoshima.
  • While he's orchestrating his murder scheme on Mahiru, a feeling of doubt and apprehension from doing this out of fear of not just failure but also a fear of a conscience crisis.
    • It later turns out that Mahiru is still alive despite the scheme he pulled, because the scheme took place in the Neo World Program, not the real world.
  • When he is asked if Peko is his tool for the murder he ordered, Fuyuhiko denies it because he doesn't see Peko as a tool and just wants her to be herself.
  • He gets himself nearly killed by trying to sacrifice himself to be executed instead of Peko. Unfortunately, Peko dies for him anyway.
  • Peko's death changes him for the better and sheds many of his antagonistic and corrupting traits.
  • Helps Hajime and Mikan to stop the Despair disease from spreading to the rest of the group.
  • He actively cooperates with Hajime and the rest of the group in trying to solve many murder mysteries.
  • He tells Akane that she's lucky to have Nekomaru around and that she should be thankful to him for saving her, reflecting on the fact that he's the reason why he lost Peko and feels guilty for it.
  • He helps defeat AI Junko with Hajime, Sonia, Kazuichi, and Akane.
  • Prevents Ryota Mitari from brainwashing people with hope under a false utopia.

What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]

  • Despite subverting his antagonistic traits, he is still hot-tempered and vulgar in many class trials, which gets in the way of him acting more rationally.
  • He's lethal because he murdered Sato out of vengeance for his sister's death, which he doesn't feel particular remorse for doing.
  • He still has many traces of arrogance left in his personality.
