“ | Look homie, I don't mind dying. You feel me? But I just want to die with something that matters, homie. That's what Forum gangsters should really be about. | „ |

“ | Hey! Hey! Enough! You got me out here. You roped me into your crazy world of bulls**t. If it was lies, New Age s**t and arguments about how good life used to be, I could have stayed my ass in Los Santos. | „ |
~ Franklin trying to end Michael and Trevor's argument. |
Franklin Clinton is one of the three main protagonists (alongside Trevor Phillips and Michael De Santa) of Grand Theft Auto V and a major character in Grand Theft Auto Online. He’s best friends are Lamar Davis, and his dog Chop, and later become close friends with Michael De Santa and Trevor Phillips.
He is voiced by and modelled after Shawn "Solo" Fonteno.
He seems to be the more level headed of the three playable main protagonists.
His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Admirable?[]
- As stated above he seems to be the more level-headed protagonist out of the three, often being the voice of reason and usually breaking up Michael’s and Trevor’s verbal fights.
- He went alongside Michael to save Jimmy from Mexican gangsters, jumping onto the stolen yacht to save him, and afterwards agreeing to give him a ride back home and in the process developing a friendship with Jimmy.
- He saves from Michael from IAA agents when he breaks inside the IAA building to kidnap Mr. K.
- After Lester revealed he was the one who killed Jay Norris, Franklin said that while Jay was a bad person, he didn't think he deserved to die.
- He tracks the O’Neil brothers and then helps Michael and Trevor take them down.
- Probably one of his most heroic moments is saving Michael from Chinese gangsters from a meat factory after Trevor refused to go and save him.
- He goes out to save Lamar after he’s set up by Stretch with the Ballas.
- In the final mission he saves Michael and Trevor alongside Lamar and helps them take out FIB swat and Merryweather Security, and then agreeing to take out Wei Cheng so he won’t be able to come after Michael and Trevor.
- Alongside Michael and Franklin, they push the car that Devin Weston is in over a hill to finally finish him off for good for his crimes.
- In a side mission he confronts Peter Dreyfuss over the death of Leonora Johnson, and after failed attempts at trying to bribe Franklin he runs off and you have a choice to either kill him or let him go, but since the game seems rewards you with a 100% mission completion for killing him, then it is still admirable as it heavily implies that Franklin canonically killed him.
- Despite having a bumpy relationship with them he still cares about Michael, Trevor, and Lamar, always having their back when they’re in trouble, even agreeing to take care of Chop when Lamar decides to let Franklin take care of him.
- Out of the three main protagonists, he is the one that understands other people’s feelings the most.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- Like all of the GTA protagonists he commits multiple crimes, which makes him lethal and anti heroic.
- He participates in many robberies ranging from banks to the IAA building.
- When Michael catches Amanda cheating on him with the tennis coach, he doesn’t stop Michael from tearing down the house that he was hiding in and even helps him with it.
- He helps Lester assassinate people, although they did deserve it, it was still extreme, and Franklin showed no remorse over it.
- He was reluctant to save Lamar at first, only continuing because Tanisha told him to, otherwise Franklin would have been perfectly okay with letting Lamar die since he "always causes problems for him", proving he has a selfish side.
