NOTE: The acts from the Off the Record version of Frank should not be included as that is a different universe, so only the original incarnation of Frank's actions should be listed here.

- Jessie. You know how to use this ?

- Frank. Kinda, I've covered wars you know.

~ Frank's most well-known quote

Francis Algernon "Frank" West is the main protagonist of Capcom's Dead Rising franchise. He is an intrepid freelance journalist who is searching for the scoop of a lifetime till he gets a tip one day off an anonymous source. However, Frank would never have known what he was in for till he saw it with his own eyes.

He was voiced by Terrance. J. Rotolo in every game besides Dead Rising 4 and Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, where he was voiced by Ty Olsson and Jas Patrick respectively.

His Good Ranking[]

What Makes Him Admirable?[]

  • In the first game, he saves 50 other survivors from the outbreak after Otis manages to steal a helicopter and fly them all to safety.
  • He saves Brad's life after he is pinned down by Carlito in the Food Court and gets medicine to nurse him back to health when he is injured later on by Carlito.
  • He defeats Sean Keanan (who wanted to sacrifice many survivors to purge "tainted blood") and Jo Slade (who was a corrupt official who kidnapped women in order to rape and torture them to death) He also saves any hostages the two held and brings them back to safety.
  • After noticing a zombie trying to eat Isabela, Frank kills it and saves her from getting infected.
  • Upon hearing that Carlito planned to blow up the mall and spread zombies all across America through causing a massive explosion in the maintenance tunnel which would spread parasitic larvae all throughout the atmosphere, Frank collected all of the bombs in time and got them outside the maintenance tunnel before they detonated.
  • Upon hearing Carlito's story about Santa Cabeza, he tells him that while it does not excuse his actions, he will expose the truth about Santa Cabeza's destruction to the rest of the world.
  • After hearing that Carlito planned to infect the entire United States with infected orphans, he makes it his goal to escape Willamette and prevent Carlito's plan from being carried out.
  • He defeats Brock Mason in a fist fight, saving thousands or even millions of people in the process as Brock was a man who killed people and destroyed places for the sheer fun of it rather than because zombies needed to be taken out and Frank wanted to kill him to prevent Brock from causing anymore deaths.
  • When Isabela is swarmed by zombies on top of a jeep, Frank gets a machine gun and kills all the zombies surrounding her. The two then escape in a helicopter sent by Otis, although Isabela ends up getting taken into custody for helping Carlito with his plan.
  • When Chuck is about to be eaten by a zombified Tyrone King, Frank saves Chuck's life by killing Tyrone with a baseball bat.
  • In Dead Rising 2: Case West, he assists Chuck in getting evidence to help clear his name. He also helps Chuck take down Harjit Singh who was responsible for over 100,000 deaths in Las Vegas and Still Creek and over 1 million people being infected.
    • He and Chuck also rescue 9 Phenotrans scientists during their stay.
  • Defeats Calder who was responsible for causing the second Willamette outbreak and thousands of deaths.
  • He sacrifices himself at the end of the fourth game to allow Brad and Vick to escape safely, not knowing he would come back to life as a zombie.
  • Despite competing with Vick, in the end he decides to ally with her and the two expose the government as the ones behind the second Willamette outbreak and Obscuris's attempts to create sapient zombies as workers.

What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]

  • While he does save a lot of people, in general Frank is an anti-hero who does most of his good acts for his own desires to become famous and an acclaimed journalist rather than for the benefit of others.
  • While they were relatively minor in the first game and Case West, by the time of the fourth game, he has many moments of being snarky and cold hearted towards other people with him also having many of these moments in the alternate universe Dead Rising 2: Off The Record, meaning that version of Frank can't be NPG either.
  • He can be arrogant at times, such as when Brad wanted him to carry Dr. Barnaby back to the security room, Frank didn't want to do it initially despite Brad being injured and when he tells Floyd that the antiques he likes in the shop are crap for sale in a mall and that he has made better art in the can.
  • He is quite lethal (in bad ways) as he makes the first attack on Larry Chiang and kills him so he can get information from Carlito, and if he kills Burt Thompson despite Aaron Swoop showing sadness over his death, Frank tells him "unless he wants to end up like his buddy he should come with him" and if people get eaten by Zombies or die while still being tied up/handcuffed Frank can take snuff pictures of them dying.
