NOTE: This article is about his 2017 version, not his 1987 version, who is not Inconsistently Admirable. Therefore, none of his 1987 counterpart's actions should be added.

I survived like a Scottish cockroach! And you can survive too, if you listen to old Flinty!
~ Flintheart Glomgold preparing for the climactic confrontation with General Lunaris.

Flintheart Glomgold is one of the three secondary antagonists of the 2017 DuckTales reboot series, Despite generally playing an antagonistic role, he becomes admirable for playing a major role in the fight against the genocidal General Lunaris.

He is voiced by Keith Furguson.

His Good Ranking[]

What Makes Him Admirable?[]

In General[]

  • While he can certainly be considered insane, there is absolutely no indication whatsoever that Flintheart Glomgold is amoral, as he fully understands right and wrong and chooses right for the sake of protecting innocent people from the Moon.
  • Despite the admirable standard, he stands out for his crucial role in defeating the evil General Lunaris.

Season 2[]

  • As Duke Baloney, he was generally kind and friendly towards his fellow fishermen along with Webby and Louie.
  • Before converting back to his current personality, he tried to save Webby and Louie from a storm.
  • He is the one to come up with the plan to stop General Lunaris from taking Earth out of orbit, which would have caused billions of people to die from the drastic changes in temperature. This was after all of Scrooge's plans had completely backfired. He even takes on Lunaris in direct physical combat and Manny even lets Glomgold ride on his back, albeit briefly.
  • He seems to show genuine love to sharks, especially ones he affectionately calls "sharkas" and "his babies".

Season 3[]

  • He, along with Magica De Spell and the Beagle Boys, comes in to turn Bradford into an actual buzzard, and he escorts Magica when she takes him away. He, alongside Ma Beagle, also calls out Bradford for his cowardice.

What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]

  • He's On & Off, as he mostly plays the role of a card-carrying villain, with him very rarely being on the good side.
  • He is too much of a jerk.
    • He's extremely wrathful, overbearing, condescending, and violent. He even tries to dance on Scrooge's casket when he faked his death, and he also builds a Ferris wheel to shoot a cannonball at Scrooge's house.
    • He cheats his own workmates in the first season, claiming that "treasure" is the greatest treasure of all, hence its name. He also callously tried to leave his men to die in a cave flashback and Scrooge had to save them himself proving he's learned nothing in the last three decades.
    • As part of saving the world, he makes Scrooge dress up as Santa Claus just because he knows he won't like that, which even Mrs. Beakley calls him out on.
  • He is extremely reckless and childish, fantasizing about dragging Mark Beaks into a volcano, pouring gasoline in a vault because he was cold, wasting money on cartoonishly useless assets such as a "dramatic entrance budget" against Zan Owlson's wishes, and claiming to have "defeated" Scrooge after General Lunaris received his comeuppance, even though he points out that they were on the same team.
  • He's an anti-hero, as while he did help save Earth, he was mostly doing it because he doesn't want to be dearly departed yet as well as to earn the praise of "defeating" Scrooge McDuck.

Trivia[]

  • He is one of two characters from DuckTales to be Inconsistently Admirable, with the other being Scrooge McDuck. Ironically, Scrooge is his nemesis.
  • Only his 2017 series version qualifies as Inconsistently Admirable, as his comic books and 1987 series counterpart is only "heroic" for pragmatic and self-serving reasons without having any honor or standards in his truces, in addition to massively failing the admirable standards to Scrooge McDuck.
