| ~ Falco Lombardi |
Falco Lombardi is often the deuteragonist of the Star Fox franchise. He is both Fox McCloud's second-in-command and the most respected ace pilot of Team Star Fox. Since he used to be a member of the Hot-Rodders gang, he can be quite uncooperative, reckless, and prefers doing things his way including making snarky remarks over the intercom at various points which tends to clash with those in authority, but he remains devoted and loyal to his teammates, cares deeply about them and doesn't want to see anyone harmed. Falco puts his natural hunting instincts to good use in finding shortcuts and revealing alternative routes to new areas depending on the circumstances. His sensitive nerves can predict the tide of the battle accurately.
His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Admirable?[]
- Falco Lombardi is very helpful, both in gameplay and in the story and he knows all the alternative routes that take his team to tougher routes. In addition, during the Macbeth boss battle where Fox has to shoot the eight switches, he will activate one of the switches for him, making it easier to turn the points to make the speeding Forever Train Engineer crash into a fuel bunker when successful.
- He is horrified at how Corneria City had been badly damaged by Andross's forces and how they went as far as to severely contaminate the once beautiful oceans of Zoness upon arrival.
- Falco cares deeply about his friends and is devoted to them in every way by looking out for them when they need him the most, and it helps that he is the ace pilot of the group and has powerful nerves that can turn the tide of the battles in their favor. This is shown at the end of Star Fox Adventures when Falco saved Fox from being killed by Andross by shooting a Smart Bomb into his mouth and he often gives Fox those bombs until Andross is defeated. Another case is in Star Fox Assault, where Fox gets trapped on Fichina inside of the Climate Control Center full of Aparoid infected sentry robots, despite disliking the cold, Falco immediately rushes to his friend's aid and lets him ride on his wing to take care of the rest from there, but not without exchanging their little friendly banter. In the Subspace Emissary, when Bowser creates a False Clone of Diddy Kong to kidnap both the real one and Fox, Falco jumps to their rescue, destroys the Dark Cannon, forcing the king of the Koopa to spare them, and helps his friend and Diddy defeat the clone. In Star Fox Zero, when Wolf O’Donnell takes down Peppy Hare (that the young bird affectionately calls Gramps in Star Fox Assault), Falco worries deeply about him and, despite the danger, goes to Titania with Fox and Slippy to find him. Through the mission, he reassures Slippy when he shows concerns about Peppy, advices him and Fox like he did to them and even goes as far as threatening to kill the Scrapworm himself for taking their mentor prisoner, showing how protective of Peppy he is. Falco respects anyone who is more skilled than himself.
- Falco quietly reflects some sadness when Peppy kamikazes the Great Fox into the shields that block the entrance to the Aparoid Homeworld to shatter it to let the team through to have their final showdown with the Aparoid Queen without him, showing that despite being slightly annoyed with Peppy for being a bit too pushy with the team at times, he reluctantly sees him as an aspiring authority figure.
- Falco is willing to help guide Krystal, since she is still learning the ropes, during the Sargasso Space Hideout mission to help improve her flying prowess.
- Despite the fact that he tends to not be very grateful when he is rescued from his pursuers, Falco eventually starts becoming more grateful to the people who save him and is even apologetic for demonstrating poor flying skills.
- When Falco and his team are plagued by the illusionary voices of Peppy, Pigma, General Pepper, ROB 64, and even James McCloud, created by the Aparoid Queen to mentally torture them into defecting to her side, Falco reminds Fox that his father would never tell him to give up, showing that even in the most extreme situations, Falco watches out of Fox’s well being and knows how much James’ presumed death affected him. Wolf’s earlier advice, “Don’t hesitate! When the time comes, just act.” they managed to snap out of it and the team works together to defeat her for good.
- Though Falco is a bit responsible for the Aparoids’ extinction, he doesn’t have any genocidal flaws, and did this to protect himself, his friends and others, including his rival, Leon Powalski.
- Although he and Leon get along horribly wrong and constantly argue with each other, Falco wouldn’t hesitate to team up with him if necessary.
- In Starlink: Battle for Atlas (Nintendo Switch version only), during the Slippy's Scheme mission has Falco wanting to do this mission, but Slippy wants to do it himself, so Falco lets him. After Slippy defeats Andrew at the end of that mission, Falco actually compliments him and acknowledges that he is improving, with Slippy replying to him it's okay to humble himself when he's proven wrong; which is a very rare moment for Falco to say something like that to the person he usually pokes fun at.
- In the Subspace Emissary and World of Light, Fox and Falco help the other Smash Bros fighters save the world from Tabuu and Galeem (and later Dharkon) respectively.
- Despite his seriousness compared to most heroes who have lighthearted attitudes, he does not darken the mood and keeps the story light hearted.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- Falco can be uncooperative and is easily angered on a whim to the point where he can be quite harsh with the team and is sarcastic when he is saved by Fox (in earlier games). He also lashed out at Katt Monroe when she comes to help them out and tells her to go bother someone else, which isn't called for, since she only wants to help them out. He even makes fun of Fox's crush on Krystal at times.
- He can be very arrogant and acts like a jerk quite a lot to the point where it's too much for him to be NPG, which is evidenced by the way he often picks on Slippy due to the latter's lack of flying experience and impatient with his shortcomings.
- Due to his once being a leader of the Hot-Rodders gang, Falco is very brash, cocky, and rebellious and tends to take risks that tend to put him in an unescapable situation and it also puts him at odds with authority figures such as Peppy.
