Eric Theodore Cartman, usually referred to by his surname, is one of the main protagonists of the South Park franchise.

He is a boy between the ages of 8-10 who lives in South Park, Colorado and has been the longtime on & off friend/archenemy of Stan Marsh, Kyle Broflovski, and Kenny McCormick, although prior to the later seasons they never truly considered him one.

He is voiced by Trey Parker.

His Good Ranking[]

What Makes Him Admirable?[]

  • He saves everyone from the planetarium in "Roger Ebert Should Lay Off the Fatty Foods."
  • His most famous goodness zone and admirable act was in South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut, when he went on a swearing powerhouse as a result of powerbox electrocution to defeat Saddam Hussein and save the world from his tyranny.
  • In "Rainforest Schmainforest," he gets some construction workers to get Miss Stevens and his classmates out of the rainforest.
  • In "Cartman's Silly Hate Crime 2000," he attempts to bring Disney land to his cellmate romper, after he attemps to help him escape from prison.
  • He helps Shelley get back at Skyler in "Cat Orgy."
  • He defeats Osama bin Laden in "Osama Bin Laden Has Farty Pants."
  • He helps the boys save some cows from being slaughtered in "Fun with Veal."
  • Brought Christmas cheer to Iraq in "Red Sleigh Down," though this was mainly done to get on Santa's nice list.
  • He etrieves a little girl’s stolen doll in “Lil’ Crime Stoppers.”
  • He unites the town and helps them reach an agreement over the Iraq War in "I'm a Little Bit Country."
  • His plan stops the AARP from taking over South Park in "Grey Dawn," freeing everyone that had been captured, and stopping their plans to take over the United States and kill anyone who's not at least 65.
  • He saves South Parkk from being overrun by hippies in "Die Hippie, Die."
  • He saves the Broflovski family from a smug storm in "Smug Alert!"
  • In "Miss Teacher Bangs a Boy," he helps Kyle stop Ms. Stevenson, who was grooming Kyle's brother Ike.
  • He resuscitates Kyle when he is seemingly killed by ManBearPig in "Imaginationland," although this was mainly so Kyle could keep his end of a bet they made, sucking Cartman's balls.
  • He rescues ten people who were being held hostage in "The Death of Eric Cartman."
  • In "Make Love, Not Warcraft," he leads the boys to stop a renegade player from ruining World of Warcraft.
  • In "Tonsil Trouble," with the help of Magic Johnson, he finds a cure for AIDS,
  • In "Major Boobage", he hides several cats in the attic (including his pet cat) to prevent them from being kidnapped. He initially refused to hide them to prevent himself from being in trouble, but realized how much he really values cats.
  • In "Insecurity," he tried to prevent his mom from getting raped by setting up a security system, even though it somewhat backfired.
  • He helps Tolkien get past the school shooters to get to his exam on time in "Dead Kids," despite having no reason to do so.
  • Though he was intending to kill the pangolin just to avoid going back to school in "The Pandemic Special," he decides to spare the animal for Stan's sake.
  • In "The Return of Covid," he sacrifices his own happy life where he was the married father of two to give everyone else a chance at a better future.

What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]

  • When he does do good, he is usually an anti-hero as most of the good stuff he has done is for his own gain. This could also make him a hero by proxy.
  • This is South Park, which never takes itself seriously and uses satirical comedy, as well as giving almost all characters anti-heroic or jerkish qualities for the sake of laughs, and although the series does have messages relating to societal issues, Cartman and the others are far too played for laughs to be NPG or PG.
  • He is a bigoted, sociopathic, and bullying jerk most of the time, and is mainly known for being arrogant, rude, narcissistic and selfish.
  • He is On & Off as he has done a lot of acts of bullying, sociopathic, and even very heinous acts thus passing the henious standard, such as when he summoned Cthulhu so that he kill his friends and cause havoc across the world. He has also killed many people for selfish reasons, such as when he tricked Scott Tenorman into eating chili made from his parents’ bodies, just for conning him out of $16.12.

Trivia[]

  • He is the only South Park character to be both Inconsistently Heinous and Inconsistently Admirable.
