“ | People like you and me have to be resourceful. When the times comes, if we can't look out for ourselves, then we're as good as dead. Keep on practicing. And remember, I'm not the type to waste my time on hopeless cases | „ |

“ | Everyone here has been training for months to become heroes who can save the people of this world. No one can master being a hero right away. Except maybe All Might, but he doesn't count. Before becoming a pro hero, you have to make sure you're taking care of yourself. Otherwise you'll fail. If you don't have the power to stand your ground on your own, then you can't protect anyone else. | „ |

Shota Aizawa also known as Eraser Head is a major character in the My Hero Academia franchise.
He's a U.A staff member that serves as the homeroom teacher and mentor for Class 1.A. While he does come across as a lazy and grumpy individual, he shows that he takes his profession as both a hero and teacher very seriously and expects his students to do the same.
He is voiced by Junichi Suwabe in the Japanese version of the anime, and formerly by Alex Organ who was replaced with Christopher Wehkamp in the English version.
His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Admirable?[]
- When villains invaded the U.S.J. he took them head on and managed to take nearly all of them out before being subdued by the Nomu
- Despite being severely injured he still used his quirk to save Asui's life by erasing Tomura's quirk
- When the midterms took place he allowed Momo to defeat him knowing her self-esteem was low and she was consumed by doubts, this way she could gain more confidence and improve as a hero
- He asked Deku to tell Mandalay to send out a mass message allowing all students to use their quirks agains the villains
- He trained Hitoshi Shinso as his own personal student so that he could fulfill his dream of joining the Hero Course and becoming one
- He took part in the raid against the Shie Hassiakia, proving to be a vital member of the team as his quirk and strategies helped save the lives of several heroes and cops and is ultimately what allowed Deku to get to Overhaul on time in the first place
- He used his quirk to erase Eri's rewind, saving Deku from being erased
- He acts like a father figure to Eri and takes care of her while also training her to use her quirk without endangering others
- He was one of the first heroes to arrive to help after the fight with Nine
- He was able to reach out to Oboro within Kurogiri and have what was left of him reveal a hospital, from which the Heroes deduced Daruma Ujiko's plan and planned an assault
- During the Paranormal Liberation War he took part in the attack in the hospital and fought several Nomus to get to Daruma
- He was saddened when Crust gave his life to save him and tried to reach out for him
- He erased Tomura's quirks which allowed the heroes to last a lot more than they would have otherwise, and even saved their lives though some still left with severe injuries
- He sliced his own leg off when hit with a quirk deleter so that he could keep playing his part in the plan. Even Shigaraki himself commends him for this
- He made up a lie about being hit by a truck to not get Eri to worry about his injuries
- He sympathized with Aoyama and motivated him to still be a hero instead of expelling him for being a traitor, which led to the heroes' strategy for the Final War
- He once again erased Shigaraki's quirks and allowed Monoma to copy his own so that they could work together to keep him neutralized so that the heroes could fight him on an even level.
- Used Kurogiri to warp several heroes to Midoryia to save him from the All For One possessed Shigaraki.
- Gave Midoryia Eri’s horn, allowing him to get his arms rewound back.
- He became Class A's homeroom teacher once again in their second year.
What makes him Inconsistent?[]
- He is a massive jerk who is often rude, harsh and cold to nearly everyone around him, even his own friends. He can also be needlessly mean to others when they try to interact with him, most notably Joke and Mic.
- He has some very extreme and morally questionable teaching methods that are far too recurring in the series:
- He ruthlessly insulted Midoriya over his lack of control over his quirk and told him that he could never become a hero on his first day at U.A, while it can be played off as him not wanting Deku to get himself killed, it was still a pretty cold thing to do, not to mention he could have had a private conversation with him instead of publicly berating him in front of the whole class and threathening to expel him inmediately without even seeing his test results.
- He is willing to expel students who he doesn't deem fit to be heroes and has expelled so many students that he has gotten a reputation over it, in the past he expelled a whole class of second years for seemingly no reason and All Might later reveals that he was truly planning to expel whoever came last on his test but ultimately chose not to after seeing Midoriya’s resourcefulness and Joke has stated that it's rare for Aizawa to get to mid-year with a whole 20-student class. To make matters worse he does not even expel students for safety reasons or to minimize disruption but simply because he does not see potential to become good heroes in them.
- He was willing to expel the entire class simply because the other students didn’t tell them about their friends going to save Bakugo, even though the students thought they had talked them out of the plan. However, he’s willing to let Bakugo and Mineta off without even giving them a warning of expulsion, despite Bakugo trying to attack Midoriya on the first day of school, using lethal force in the Battle Trials and striking Midoryia during the Final Exams and Mineta repeatedly attempting to grope female classmates without their consent.
- He has a tendency of sleeping in class and leaving Ida and Momo as class representatives and at times other teachers to do most of his job for him when it comes to special events such as the Cultural Festival or choosing hero names.
- In the "School Briefs" series, for parents' day he planned to have the students belive that their parents had been kidnapped by a villain and had asked them to write letters to them so that their affection would be fresh in their mind, which could potentially be traumatizing for them.
- He refused to tell his students that they would be targeted by nearly all the other trainees in the Provisional License exam, something even Joke notes is not necessary, this led to Class 1-A being unprepared for the vast majority of attacks they faced and caused them to get separated, with 2 members even failing the exam (even though that was their own fault as well).
- He has a tendency of using his carbon fiber scarf to restrain students and at time even perform chokeholds on them, an action that could have harmful results. While at timed it is understandable such as stopping Bakugo from attacking Midoriya or tying up Mineta for making lewd comments, he has done it at times that are completely innecesary such as when Shinso stopped listening to him, when he dragged those who failed the midterms to the remedial classes or when Mineta simply called Hagukare a goddess.
- During the Forest Training Camp, when he was working on the remedial course, he worked with them until 2:00 am and got them up for intense training in the early morning, giving them at most 4-5 hours of sleep (considering Vlad woke up 1-B at a "very early hour" and 1-A had already been up for at least an hout by then).
- His Quirk Aprehension Test on the first day of school was against School policy and he disobeyed Nezu's wishes, making his students completely miss the orientation that the school provides on the first day. This is only the first of many examples where he directly violates school policies and disregards Nezu's requests in order to teach his class in the manner that he prefers, even if it may result harmful and even unneffective.
- He critizices All Might's teaching methods even though he means well and wants what's best for the students, which makes him a hypocrite to an extent considering Aizawa's teaching methods are much more reckless, dishonest and at times unethical.
- He has probably left a permanent effect on the track records of all the students he's expelled, especially considering how prestigious U.A is.
- He and the Wild, Wild Pussycats had the entirety of Class 1-A forcibly tossed into a forest and forced to walk several kilometers to the Training Camp while also fighting Pixie-Bob's earth monsters, not to mention they were threatened with not being fed if they didn't make it on time. This was also a unique method used by Aizawa as Vlad King took Class 1-B directly to the camp instead of forcing them through this challenge. Even Mandalay acknowledges how strict and demanding he's being.
- He is a liar who has been dishonest with his allies, far too many times to count and Ida even brings this up, questioning if he's not concerned that his students would lose trust in him due to how much he relies on manipulation to motivate them.
