~ Dru returning to villainy |
Dru Gru is the deuteragonist of Despicable Me 3. He is the twin brother of Gru who wants to become a great villain like their late father and like Gru used to be.
He is voiced by Steve Carell, who also voices Gru in the same franchise.
His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Admirable?[]
- He is genuinely excited to meet Gru and treats Lucy and the girls with kindness.
- He truly wants to bond with Gru even if it's done through villainous methods.
- Even though he was unaware that it wasn't for villainy, he helped Gru break into Balthazar Bratt's base to steal the Diamond so that Gru and Lucy can get their jobs back.
- Even though he was mad at Gru for lying to him, he still goes to help him and Lucy save the girls from Balthazar.
- He nearly gets himself killed by deactivating Bratt's robot saving the lives of his brother and nieces and making him directly responsible for Bratt's defeat and Gru and Lucy getting their jobs back.
- Even though he returns to villainy in the end, he still remains friendly to his brother as shown in the credits.
- He continued to support his family as shown in the fourth and final film as he didn't contact them when they were undercover to hide from Maxime and later attended Gru's celebration in his house after Maxime's defeat.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- The main reason why he cannot be Near Pure Good is that he is On & Off as not everything he does is heroic.
- He constantly tries to convince Gru to return to villainy throughout the third film and somehow ended up succeeding when the two of them did several crimes in Freedonia together.
- He steals Gru's airship and most of his minions in the end so they can serve him as a villain.
- He is arguably in the Grey zone as he has several moments of acting like a jerk, like kicking Gru’s shin.
- Just like Gru, he shows very little to no regret for his villainy. Instead, he's prideful in his work for keeping villainy alive in his family's name.
- He is a hero by proxy since he was lured into it to start a heist and only came to the rescue once his brother or any of his nieces are in danger.
Trivia[]
- He and his brother are the only pair of Inconsistently Admirable twins on this wiki.
- Coincidentally, both are Villainous Benchmarks, as well as On & Off too.
