Dr. Robotnik: If I can't rule the world, I might as well save it! For the one and only person who ever cared about me… Agent Stone: Don't do this, Doctor! Please! Dr. Robotnik: Stone. You were more than a sycophant to me. You were… a syco-friend. I'll miss your lattes with steamed Austrian goat milk… I love the way you make 'em! So, I guess there's only one thing left to say! Bzzt, bzzt, bzzt! It's been a real drag! Thanks for nothing. |

| ~ Dr. Robotnik's presumed last words before supposedly sacrificing himself to save the Earth while acknowledging Agent Stone as his only true and best friend. |
Dr. Ivo Gerald Robotnik, also known as Eggman, is the main antagonist of the Sonic Cinematic Universe.
He is a brilliant yet unstable and narcissistic roboticist who planned to take Sonic the Hedgehog's powers for himself in order to conquer the world. Like many of his counterparts in the franchise, he is the titular protagonist's arch-nemesis. He is also the grandson and former protégé of Professor Gerald Robotnik, the cousin of the late Maria Robotnik, and the boss of Agent Stone.
He was portrayed by Jim Carrey.
His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Admirable?[]
- Despite frequently abusing him, Robotnik has a soft spot for Agent Stone, even acknowledging that he was his only friend and states he did genuinely care for him, going far as to dedicate his final message to Stone.
- In the beginning of the third movie, he appeared to have retired from villainy following his second defeat, while also being willing to help Sonic and his friends find who hacked his Badniks, only going back to villainy after being manipulated into genuinely believing he could rule the world with his grandfather who he loved.
- After discovering his grandfather Gerald's true intentions to destroy the Earth, killing everyone on it (including themselves), he was appalled and attempted to stop him showing he would not go this far, seemingly redeeming himself once he managed to defeat and kill his grandfather with Knuckles and Tails at his side.
- He killed Gerald to prevent his municide.
- While he does cheer after Gerald's death, even mocking him saying he made one hell of a bug zapper, this was justified due to all the heinous actions Gerald committed.
- Along with Knuckles the Echidna and Miles "Tails" Prower, he manages to move the Eclipse Cannon's laser away from the Earth, even if it did result in part of the Moon being destroyed.
- He (seemingly) sacrifices his life to stave off the Eclipse Cannon's explosion long enough for Shadow the Hedgehog to push it away from the Earth, even exclaiming "If I can't rule the world, I might as well save it!" during his final speech, adding that he does it for the sake of Agent Stone, the only person to have truly cared for him. In turn, he saves all of humanity from his grandfather.
- Despite the high admirable standard and even when compared to Team Sonic, he stands out for saving the Earth from being destroyed by his grandfather, seemingly at the cost of his own life.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- He spends most of the series as a villain who commits numerous atrocities, including his many attempted murders of Sonic and his friends and family, attempting to use the Master Emerald to enslave all of humanity and rule the multiverse, and trying to help Gerald destroy GUN headquarters, which would have killed millions of innocent people.
- Even after his redemption, Robotnik never shows remorse for any of his crimes and admits he still wishes to rule the world.
- He is a hero by proxy due to deducing that he "might as well" save the world after his opportunity to rule it was taken.
- He is extremely arrogant and an overall egomaniac driven by a desire for world domination, simply because he craves total control and is also megalomaniacal.
- He tends to be an extreme jerk to mostly everyone he interacts with and can't go a single sentence with anyone without insulting or threatening them in some manner:
- He frequently abuses and mistreats his assistant Agent Stone in spite of being genuine friends with him.
- When he, Tails and Knuckles divert the Eclipse Cannon laser away from Earth, but accidentally cleave the Moon in the process, Robotnik credits only himself for the former, and then blames Tails and Knuckles for the latter, though this could easily be seen as hateful banter.
- His supposed last words were even telling everyone on Earth it's been a real drag and sarcastically thanking them for nothing.
- He is rather sadistic with him killing his grandfather. While this was justified as Gerald tried to kill him first for trying to stop him, Ivo still showed some level of sadism while killing Gerald and even mocked him saying Gerald made one hell of a bug zapper.
Trivia[]
- He, his Sonic X version and his Sonic Boom version are the only versions of Dr. Eggman to be Inconsistently Admirable.
- Out of all of them, he is the only version to be redeemed rather than On & Off.
- While he may be Inconsistently Admirable now, it may change if he returns in Sonic the Hedgehog 4 and further redeems himself or if he fails the standards to a more admirable hero.
- Robotnik and Shadow are the only antagonists in the Sonic Cinematic Universe to redeem themselves.
