Deckard Shaw is one of three tritagonists (alongside Roman Pearce and Tej Parker) in the Fast & Furious franchise.
He is a former British Special Forces soldier and MI6 agent, as well as the oldest brother of Owen and Hattie Shaw. He initially sought out to exact vengeance on Dominic Toretto and his crew for hospitalizing his brother, before becoming an occasional ally later on after it had transpired that both Dominic's crew and the Shaw brothers have common enemy in the terrorist mastermind Cipher. In addition, Deckard was a former brother-in-arms of Brixton Lore, a former MI6 agent turned super soldier for Eteon.
He was portrayed by Jason Statham, who also played Frank Martin in The Transporter.
His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Admirable?[]
In General[]
- He cares for his family and always does his best to protect them.
- Even before his redemption, he always had standards he wouldn't cross.
Background[]
- He took care of his brother, Owen, and his sister, Hattie, when they were kids.
- He refused to work for Cipher when she tried to recruit him.
- He shot Brixton Lore in the face after he betrayed MI6, although Brixton survived and became a super soldier for Eteon.
The Fate of the Furious[]
- Despite his feud with Dominic Toretto and his crew in the previous film, he worked together with them to stop Cipher due to his greater hatred against her for corrupting his brother.
- He saved Dom's infant son Brian Marcos from Cipher's plane, allowing Dom to rejoin his team since Cipher no longer has any leverage against him.
- He and Owen atoned for their crimes and made peace with the Toretto Crew.
Hobbs & Shaw[]
- He and Luke Hobbs protected Hattie who had the Snowflake virus in her system.
- He and Hobbs refused to join Eteon, even while tortured with electrocution.
- He refused to kill Hattie to stop the virus from spreading even after the machine needed to extract the virus got broken.
- He and Hobbs, with the help of the latter's family, defeated Brixton Lore and removed the Snowflake from Hattie, saving the world.
Fast X[]
- Although he was initially enraged to see Han alive and fought him, he eventually helped him and his friends hide from Dante Reyes.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- He was a British Special Forces assassin who committed many crimes in the past. And even after his redemption, he never had any remorse for his villainous actions, such as:
- Supporting his brother's actions for Cipher.
- Seemingly killing Han by crashing his car in Tokyo.
- Blowing up a hospital.
- Planting a bomb in the police department, which nearly killed Elena and put Hobbs in the hospital.
- Destroying Dom's house with a bomb in the mail.
- Helping Mose Jakande steal God's Eye for Cipher to terrorize the world.
- Threatening a prince's party in Abu Dhabi.
- He's too jerkish and lethal to be NPG, always clashing with Hobbs, Dom and his crew on disagreements. He even threatened Hobbs for having a crush on his sister.
- He beat up a man stuffed inside a boxing bag just because he withheld information on a flash-drive (which Deckard already acquired anyway, meaning he tortured the poor man for nothing).
