“ | I'm going to grab my gear. Then we're going to get us that Night Fury... brother. | „ |
~ Dagur attempts to establish a brotherly bond with Hiccup |
“ | That stuff can kill you from the inside, Hiccup. Revenge, anger, obsession. Trust me, I know. It can make you do things you never thought you were capable of. Cause you to take chances, make mistakes. And if that doesn't end you, it'll eat at you slowly. | „ |
~ Dagur after his redemption, telling Hiccup how people can be consumed by wrath and anger |
“ | Heather, if you're reading this, I guess that's bad news for me. Sorry, but I couldn't let Hiccup fly you into a trap. Tell our little brother that if he really wants to hurt Viggo, hit his next dragon auction. It moves around, but if he turns over enough rocks, some worm will tell him where it is. One other thing, I didn't kill our father. When he disappeared, I let people believe that, so they would think I was tough enough to be Chief. I did a lot of things I am sorry for, but I couldn't rest in peace knowing you thought I did that. Be Safe. Your brother, Dagur. | „ |

What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- Despite reforming himself and abandoning his severely violent tendencies, he is still undeniably a berserker. He constantly charges to battle in a reckless way without a proper plan of attack and rarely shows respect to his opponents, harming them as much as possible and being very lethal in combat against both humans and dragons. Not to mention he is very eager to fight at any chance he gets and nearly got himself and Sleuther killed when he tried to go through the Sentinels headfirst without even considering listening to Hiccup and Fishlegs' strategy.
- He has several jerkish moments, especially towards Snotlout, whose name he constantly gets wrong on purpose (as it's shown he know his real name), writing his name as "Snotknuckles" on a trophy just to spite him and getting his name wrong on the entry list for the Berserker graduation ceremony. He is also a bit hypocritical as he is perfectly content giving nicknames to others but upon being called "Dagster" by Snotlout, he angrily pins him against the wall and threathens him even though he wasn't trying to offend him and called him a nickname in a friendly manner.
- He can be overly aggresive when trying to get what he wants as he threathened a merchant for info on Heather and tried to attack him before Hiccup stopped him.
- He shows little remorse over most of his actions, as the only things he's shown to really regret are his attempts against Heather and Hiccup, and he never shows any guilt over his past and his involvement in Johann, Ryker, and Viggo's plans
- His actions would continue to have a negative impact even 1,300 years later, when Leonard Burne found drawings of him and his weapons and drew inspiration from them
Trivia[]
