You're despicable!
~ Daffy's catchphrase.
I'm not crazy. I just don't give a darn.
~ Daffy in "Daffy Duck & Egghead".
And don't get any ideas. I locked the glove compartment! ... Hey, sometimes you gotta treat people wrong, to treat yourself right (clicks tongue and points at Porky)
~ Daffy, then talking to Porky in "We're In Big Truffle".
Daffy: Hoo-hoo Hoo-hoo! Hoo-hoo! Hoo-hoo! Oh brother! Have I got this chump going! Hoo-hoo! Hoo-hoo! What a knucklehead! Falling for that sssplit personality monster gag! Oh-Hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo!
Porky: Well T-That treacherousy trickster! I'll show 'em who's a "knucklehead"! I'll give him a dose of his (stuttering) medicine!! I hope I look (stammers) scary enough.
~ Daffy reveling in his pranks with scaring Porky, and Porky plotting revenge in "The Prize Pest".
Hoo-hoo! Hoo-hoo-hoo! hoo-hoo! Well, I think I'll go, ssscare some more daylights out of the little butterball!
~ Daffy continuing his prank onto Porky in "The Prize Pest".

Daffy Duck is the deuteragonist of the Looney Tunes franchise and Merrie Melodies shorts.

He is a mischievous, hyperactive, crazy duck who is Bugs Bunny's best friend all while being his friendly rival.

He was voiced by late actors: Mel Blanc (1937–1989), Dave Barry (1948), Joe Alaskey (1990–2014), Greg Burson (1993–1997).

He was voiced by the former and original actors: Jeff Bergman (1990–1993, 2011–2016), Dee Bradley Baker (1996, 2016–2019), Sam Vincent (2001–2006), and currently, he is now voiced by Eric Bauza.

His Good Ranking[]

What Makes Him Admirable?[]

  • Helped Bugs and Porky in various adventures if it's needed.
  • He helped redeem and stop the Monstars.
  • Stopped many villains such as Yosemite Sam, Tazmanian Devil, Elmer Fudd, Al-G Rhythm and many others.
    • In "Daffy – The Commando", he messes with the Nazis and most unforgettably, he made fun of Adolf Hitler in front of everyone and made him look like a clown by whacking him on the head with a mallet while Hitler was yelling out propaganda.
    • In his most heroic role as The Scarlet Pumpernickel, he fought against Sylvester (as the villainous Grand Duke) to save Melissa Duck's life from being violated and forced into marriage by Sylvester while the latter was behaving like a perverted rapist with a wielded sword towards Melissa Duck.
  • In Duck Dodgers (2003), he protects Earth from oppression under the guise of his alter-ego Duck Dodgers.
    • Most importantly, Daffy also stops Marvin the Martian from destroying the Earth several times despite getting a inhabited alien planet blown up one time.
  • In "Bah, Humduck! A Looney Tunes Christmas", he at least redeemed himself on Christmas after meeting the Ghosts of Christmas like Sylvester and they all recall his horrid behavior towards Daffy's employees, which motivated Daffy to stop being a "small-minded, selfish and seriously greedy" person and try his fixing his mistakes by giving everyone else a better Christmas.
  • In Looney Tunes: Back in Action!, he assisted in helping D.J. Drake stopping the Chairman and Marvin the Martian from turning people into monkeys and enslaving them.
    • He threw his bill at the satellite's ray beam and reverses it by swallowing it and making it explode, saving everyone on Earth from being turned into monkeys.
    • He even saves Bugs from falling to his death while in space.
  • In Space Jam: A New Legacy, he helps LeBron James save his son and the universes from Al-G Rhythm.
  • In "Hare to the Throne", he and Porky help Bugs retake his position as ruler of a Kingdom in Hare to the Throne.
  • In "Bugs Bunny Saves the Universe", he helps saving the universe.
  • In "Daffy Dilly", despite wanting to get paid millions of dollars to restore the millionaire dog's laughter, he indirectly saved Cubish's life by accidentally slipping on a rug that propelled Daffy into the air and made him fall onto a tray of food that made Daffy covered in cake, which makes Cubish hysterically laugh at Daffy's pratfall and it cures Cubish from facing death. This made Cubish hire Daffy to be his personal jester to throw pies at him.
  • Even though he‘s just secretly insecure about himself and even though he puts on a ridiculous bravado persona, he does have a good-heart. He only desires to be respected, appreciated and applauded for, which can be some of the reasons that he does good things.

What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]

  • He is an overall anti-hero whose chaotic antics as a lunatic are usually too impulsive, lethal, destructive, attention-seeking, erratic, and unruly; which makes him a innately selfish character. He also has an "on and off" history as a two-faced con-artist and Bugs' arch-rival, where Daffy has committed once too many crimes without any shed of remorse and redeeming value, such as him sinking a boat of mice for no good reason but to spite Speedy.
  • He is overly mischievous and way too much of a troublemaker, he is willing to drive anyone insane (typically without a justifiable reason like Bugs' self-defense). He has become more of an active menace to society than before as he tried killing off Bugs Bunny or Speedy Gonzales several times for their popularity (even if they didn't do anything particularly wrong), has tried scamming several people out of their money several times like it's a game for him (including Porky as his favorite victim), and it's shown in the “Rabbit Seasoning” short and the “Duck! Rabbit, Duck!” short that he has put up “Rabbit Season” signs when it is really duck season and he removed duck season signs respectively to try to get Elmer to shoot Bugs, which also could’ve gotten Elmer in trouble with the law since he was hunting off-season).
    • In the film ''Looney Tunes Back In Action'', where during a fight with Yosemite in a casino, he acts like a catcaller by lustfully whistling at a woman posing while defying gravity and admiring said leg before being sent flying back (which horrified all of them and even disgusted one of them).
  • He is way too incompetent to even be Near Pure Good, as he often screws up his own plans or thinks he is better than he actually is when Porky, who is supposedly his sidekick, shows that he is far more competent. It's not helping that he's hardly ever taken seriously as a hero in-universe.
  • Because of being a "screwball egotist", he is (more often than not) a complete jerk who has provided once too many rude and unpleasant moments in (almost) all of his appearances. Where he tends to be extremely self-centered, arrogant, greedy, pedantic, narcissistic, small-minded, antagonistic, petty, delusional, wrathful, cranky, whiny and sometimes mean-spirited/abusive (especially in the Looney Tunes Show iteration), all of which is far too much for Near Pure Good.
  • He is (almost) devoid of vivid honorable traits throughout the franchise. Several examples include:
    • In "The Iceman Ducketh", he attempts to illegally hunt down and kill Bugs Bunny to take his fur and get rich quick without a second thought. He even revels in wanting to kill him because of how much he hated Bugs.
    • In "Moby Duck", when he and Speedy are starving on a deserted island, with Daffy rejecting Gonzales' attempts at friendship from the get-go. There were several big crates of canned food wash up on the island, Daffy claims to have them all for himself, refusing to let Speedy have even a crumb from a single can. When Speedy tries to bargain with Daffy, offering a can opener in exchange for less than a quarter of food, Daffy refuses, trying to murder Speedy. Finally, when Speedy gives Daffy the can opener out of pity for the insatiable duck, Daffy shows no gratitude and gloats that Speedy still won't even get a crumb. Making Daffy too egotistical and homicidal to root for.
    • In "Assault and Peppered", he is an evil-personified land Baron who assaults several mouse beggars with a whip for starving on his property under the pretense of them lowering the value, even declaring a war on poor people despite the mice apologizing. When Speedy Gonzales arrives to rescue the poor, Daffy tries to attack him with various firearms.
    • In Chili Corn Corny, Daffy starves many Mexican animals by refusing to share his bountiful cornfield and will kill anyone whom tries to take his corn. Daffy only offers to feed a starving crow corn if Speedy is killed in exchange.
    • In "Daffy's Inn Trouble", he destroys Porky's hotel by placing explosives under the floorboards all because he didn't want to work as a janitor and Porky's hotel was attracting more customers, both of which are extremely petty and selfish reasons to destroy someone else's property.
    • In "The Prize Pest", he scares Porky and constantly pulls several cruel pranks on Porky for his own amusement, which caused Porky to retaliate after finding out that Daffy was scaring him for the fun of making fun of him.
    • In "Snow Excuse", Speedy is freezing to death and asks Daffy if he can kindly borrow some firewood from him, but the ever-greedy duck stubbornly refuses and tries to murder Speedy by shooting him with a rifle, prompting Speedy to steal some wood so he can survive on his own. He's also shown to be a hypocrite by the end of the episode, as Daffy expects to gain shelter from Speedy in return from his success of being cozy and warm at last, when Daffy was the reason why Speedy couldn't get any in the first place, giving him the idea of stealing wood from him. Speedy was close to dying of hypothermia that he essentially endangered himself.
    • In "Back in Action", he destroys Warner Bros Studios (where he works as a mascot, mind you), and gets D.J. Drake fired without showing any remorse. He then tries to eat one of D.J.'s pet fish.
    • In "Peel of Fortune", he steals Bug's idea of an automatic carrot peeler and makes him work. Later, it was revealed Daffy is so lazy, he stopped making it at Step 3; resulting in people getting highly flammable products. Even when he did admit that it was a bad idea in hindsight, it was still a immoral act that Daffy didn't think twice about.
    • In "Off Duty Cop", he impersonates his favorite actor and arrests many innocent people in the same way his actor did, and Daffy did these for extremely pointless reasons (like arresting a man when the man was proposing to her; making Daffy assume that the man stole the ring when he didn't, or handcuffing two children harmlessly playing with water guns for thinking they're recklessly misfiring at each other).
    • In "The Shelf", after being invited to stay with Porky (due to his home needing renovations), Daffy quickly takes advantage of Porky's hospitality with no remorse, turning him into his butler and making him wait on him hand and foot to the point where he verbally and even physically abuses him if he gets his outrageous demands wrong (e.g complaining about the butter being hard and attacking Porky with the butter for this reason alone, as well as throwing one of hard loafs at Porky. Resulting in Tina throwing her drink at Daffy for being sadistic towards Porky).
    • In "Beauty School", when Daffy once got the job as a hairdresser, he commits identity theft by disguising himself as Tina to take her place and submitting the wig he did his perm on. This made Tina enter the salon to drop off her wig head, and forcing Daffy to reveal his true identity (which got him fired, mind you).
      • It doesn't help that in the same episode, when Daffy was (kind of) worried about Tina murdering her boss by thinking she decapitated him (not knowing that Tina is holding a wig head) and asked her what did she do with the body, Tina clarified that it's a head model Tina brought to Daffy's place to practice cutting hair, and Daffy said that it was lame she didn't actually kill people. Meaning that Daffy actually wanted Tina to cut her boss's head, which makes him come across as really sick in the head.
    • In "The Float", most infamously; he bankrupts Porky Pig by lying about a kidney transplant just to buy a yacht. He shows no remorse for this, he threw Porky off the yacht for making Porky fall for Daffy's "true friendship" lie (forcing Bugs to dive in the water to save him), and at the end, he continues acting like a narrow-minded jerk towards Porky (even after the latter donates his kidney to Daffy and was injured for being thrown off of the yacht). Daffy's credibility shredding way like this just makes Daffy way too much of a egotist to be honorable in any sense of the word.
    • In "Working Duck", he first slept on the job as a security guard during a robbery, then Daffy bankrupts Foghorn Leghorn's CEO after being promoted to being a advisor and a successor to Foghorn's company.
    • In "The Foghorn Leghorn Story", he first ruined a death scene in the story by taking nothing seriously despite the scene featuring Daffy playing as the rooster who's involved with the death of the protagonist's mother. Instead of crying, he (embarrassingly) does a bad job at crying and then Daffy laugh at the scene on its own instead, making Daffy out to be way too unsympathetic and disrespectful of actual death scenes.
      • To make matters worse at the film set, the crew prepare for another scene, which Daffy also ruins since he wastes the crew's only take by asking a trivial question while the crew was filming him making a getaway, which caused the production set to fall into ruins and everything got destroyed. After everyone leaves, Daffy starts a fight with Foghorn when the latter wanted him to be more committed of the project when Daffy decided to quit.
