DJ Octavio is one of the main antagonists of the Splatoon franchise, serving as the main antagonist of Splatoon and Splatoon 2 and the opening antagonist in Splatoon 3.
He is the leader of the Octarians who constantly comes to blows with the Inklings, including the New Squidbeak Splatoon and his former friend Craig Cuttlefish. However, he has shown rare, yet significant heroic acts in spite of his villainy.
His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Admirable?[]
- While it's true that him and his Octarian forces kidnapped the Great Zapfish and other Zapfish from Inkopolis at least twice, they did so because they were experiencing an energy crisis and running out of power.
- In the final boss of Splatoon 3, he puts his grudges against the New Squidbeak Splatoon aside and helps defeat Mr. Grizz and save the world by rescuing New Agent 3 and their pet Smallfry, playing the Calamari Inkantation 3Mix in space which makes Smallfry transform into Hugefry, with it then fighting Grizz to distract him, and letting the former pilot the Ink-Vac on his Octobot King mech to vacuum the ooze-covered fuzzballs on Grizz's body to weaken him, and then fire all of the ooze right back at Grizz, vanquishing him.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- Despite his intentions on saving his race from an energy crisis sounding noble on paper, it doesn't change the fact that he shows no remorse for any of his villainous actions, such as ruling over the Octarians with an iron fist for countless years, brainwashing Callie, stealing the Great Zapfish and nearly dooming Inkopolis to its own energy crisis twice, and attempting to kill the agents. Also, it is currently unclear whether or not Octavio has fully abandoned his villainous ways yet.
Trivia[]
- One thing that could disqualify DJ Octavio in the future is the ambiguity of whether he fighting Mr. Grizz is a true redemption/him being on & off or pragmatic villainy also known as "Evil vs. Oblivion". If it were to be the latter, DJ Octavio would likely either be removed from this wiki or fall under the non-heroes category. The reasons of whether he's truly redeemed or not are ambiguous are the fact that he does defeat Mr. Grizz and save the world as well as rekindling his friendship with Cap'n Cuttlefish as well as selfish reasons of fighting being to protect his army and so his evil can thrive.
