Mother, Father, I am sorry. I have failed you both. I made a promise to protect our people. I thought, I thought if I could stop the Templars. If I could keep the Revolution free from their influence, that those I supported would do what was right. They did, I suppose, do what was right - what was right for them.

As for you Father, I thought I might unite us, that we would forget the past and forge a better future. In time I believe you could be made to see the world as I did, to understand....but it was just a dream. This to I should have known.

Were we not meant to live in peace then? Is that it? Are we born to argue, to fight? So many voices, each demanding something else. It has been hard at times but never harder than today. To see all I worked for perverted, discarded, forgotten. You would say I would have described the whole of history Father. Are you smiling then? Hoping I might speak the words you long to hear, to validate you, to say all along you were right. I will not. Even now, faced as I am with the truth of your cold words, I refuse. Because I believe things can still change. I may never succeed. The Assassins may struggle another thousand years in vain, but we will not stop.

Compromise, that is what everyone has insisted upon. And so I have learned it, but differently than most I think. I realize now that it will take time, that the road ahead is long and shrouded in darkness. It is a road that will not always take me where I wish to go – and I doubt I will live to see it end. But I will travel down it nonetheless.

For at my side walks hope. In the face of all that insists I turn back, I carry on. This... This is my compromise.

~ Connor Kenway, 1783
Such dark thoughts will cripple a man. But only if he lets them. Look again. Out there stand men and women determined to be free. Such a struggle is rarely easy, and never without sacrifice. I have often asked myself a thousand times if I would not be happier back amongst my people, living a quieter, simpler life. But if I abandoned my cause – if you abandoned yours, Commander – who would take our places? And what would become of the people who rely upon us?
~ Ratonhnhaké:ton to George Washington.

Connor Kenway (born as Ratonhnhaké:ton in 4th April, 1756), is a major protagonist in the Assassin’s Creed franchise, specifically serving as the titular main protagonist of the Kenway Saga.

He served as the main protagonist of the 2012 video game Assassin's Creed III, and a supporting protagonist in the games DLC known as Assassin's Creed: Liberation.

He was an American Master Assassin and an ancestor of Desmond Miles. His father is Haytham Kenway, the grand master of the Templars, and his grandfather is the infamous pirate turned assassin Edward Kenway.

He lived in colonial America during the later half of the 18th century, and sought justice against the Templars for the death of his mother. While seeking justice, Connor proved himself to be valuable ally to the Americans during the American Revolution, and would succeed in stopping the Colonial Rite. Connor would continue to serve the Assassins, but also became a father, leading his lineage to his descendant, Desmond Miles.

He is voiced by Noah Watts, and Jamie Mayers as a young child.

His Good Ranking[]

What Makes Him Admirable?[]

In General[]

1769-1783[]

  • He saw a vision: a representative of the ancient Isu race, Juno, entrusted him with an important task — to find a symbol of the brotherhood of assassins, after which he left his native village and went to look for a mentor.
  • His main goal was the restoration of the brotherhood of assassins and the gradual destruction of influential Templars, at the same time he helped the founding fathers and invited new people to live and work on the estate.
  • In 1773, he met William Molineaux and Stephen Shafo, the latter joining the brotherhood of assassins. Together with Samuel Adams, they organize protests in Boston, which result in the Boston Tea Party.
  • In 1774, he kills the first Templar, William Johnson, a cunning businessman who wanted to dishonestly take over the Mohawk lands. Then, for some time, Connor was involved in the affairs of the estate, provided production of goods, and helped local residents.
  • In 1775, an envoy arrived from Boston, who delivered a letter asking for Paul Revere's help, which would allow Connor to find and kill John Pitcairn, another influential Templar. Connor's relationship with the patriots is becoming closer, and he is actively involved in the early events of the American Revolutionary War. Delivers messages during the midnight ride of Paul Revere and William Molineaux, witnesses the first shots fired in Lexington and the flight of the Patriot army, commands several patriot detachments at Concord and successfully repels the attack of the Redcoats. Next, he demonstrates bravery during the Battle of Bunker Hill, during which he kills Pitcairn. During these events, Connor manages to get to know George Washington.
  • In 1776, he learns of a conspiracy against George Washington, behind which the Templar Thomas Hickey stands. An attempt to kill him in New York turns out to be a failure, and Connor goes to prison and is sent to execution. During the execution, the assassins save him by cutting the rope with a throwing knife. After that, Connor manages to kill Thomas Hickey before he strikes George Washington, who is present at the execution. Israel Putnam publicly declares Connor a hero who saved the commander-in-chief's life.
  • In 1777, he helps the assassin Aveline de Grandpre in the vicinity of New York and at the same time searches for the treasures of Captain Kid. Meanwhile, the brotherhood of assassins in America is growing, new people are being accepted into it.
  • In the winter of 1777, he meets with his father and together with him searches for Benjamin Church, who betrayed both the Patriots and the Templars. In the summer of 1778, they manage to find and kill a former Templar. Around the same time, Connor finds Admiral Nicholas Biddle of the Templar Fleet and kills him.
  • He took part in the Battle of Monmouth and the Battle of Chesapeake, and helped George Washington uncover the traitor Benedict Arnold at West Point. Next, Haytham informs the assassin that it was George Washington who ordered the burning of the village of Ganadazedon, and now intends to re-attack the Mohawks, who gathered to fight on the side of the Redcoats. After that, Connor's relationship with the Patriots turns cool.
  • In 1781, he manages to kill Haytham Kenway, after which power in the Templar Order passes to Charles Lee. However, in 1782, Connor kills him too, taking the mysterious amulet. The Templar Order in the colonies has been destroyed, and the patriots are confidently winning the war.
  • He returns to his native village, finds a crystal ball and communicates with Juno for the last time. She instructs him to hide the amulet in a safe place, knowing that Desmond is watching his actions through the Animus. After that, Connor becomes free, deals with the affairs of the estate and develops the order of assassins, thus undoing all of Shay Patrick Cormac's work from many years ago.

The Tyranny of King Washington[]

Later life[]

What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]

  • Although unlike other members of the Brotherhood, he does not possess significant anti-heroic qualities, he is still an assassin, which makes him too lethal for an NPG, since he is also like other assassins from the Brotherhood, since he kills his victims in rather brutal ways, and sometimes in pure wrath. Although all his victims deserve it.
  • Sometimes he can be rude and too stubborn, though these traits have somewhat toned down. But they resurface every now and then.
