Phenotrans set me up, they're the ones who killed my wife... and they're the ones who killed Rebecca.
~ Chuck after Frank accused him of being involved in the Fortune City outbreak.

Chuck Greene is the deuteragonist of the Dead Rising franchise.

He is the caring father of Katey Greene who will do anything to get her zombrex that she requires due to being an infected human. However, traditional zombrex became illegal and since Chuck had to keep her unregistered and find it himself, he started to stress out that Katey would die, so he turned to crime in order to pay off her medicine, but Katey fled after feeling like she was a burden towards Chuck.

Chuck promptly lost his mind and went on a search for Katey that lasted 2 years until he finally found her at Los Perdidos.

He was voiced by Peter Flemming.

His Good Ranking[]

What Makes Him Admirable[]

  • When Katey gets infected and is nearly eaten by Chuck's zombified wife, Pam Greene, he kills Pam and rushes to a pharmacy in order to get Katey zombrex before she turns. He succeeds and would then proceed to get Katey zombrex every day for the next 13 years up until that point, despite the stress it caused him.
  • He saved 13 people during his stay in Still Creek.
  • He protected Katey and killed Jed Wright in order to save her due to Jed "wanting to add her to his collection", despite Katey only being a four year old at the time.
  • He saves 65 people during his stay in Fortune City, even saving some of them from getting cannibalized, raped, killed or tortured by defeating their captors.
  • He rescues Rebecca Chang after she is kidnapped by the Bailey twins.
    • He then saves her life again later on when she is captured by Dwight Boykin.
  • He defeats Tyrone King who was responsible for causing the entire Fortune City outbreak after he tried to escape justice for his crimes.
  • When the safe house is breached by zombies, he fixes the bunker door and kills all of the zombies who got inside, saving around 80 people from being eaten.
  • He defeats Raymond Sullivan (who was the mastermind behind the outbreak) and uses his radio to call in a bunch of rescue helicopters, saving many innocent people from a firebombing in the process.
    • During Overtime mode, he also saves Katey and Stacey from Tyrone after they are kidnapped, who intended to force Chuck to watch them get eaten alive by zombies with Chuck then finally killing Tyrone after defeating him in their fight.
  • After he is overpowered by a zombie Tyrone, Chuck tells Stacey and the others to leave him behind so that they can escape, leading to him almost dying until Frank West came and saved his life.
  • He and Frank defeat Harjit Singh who was responsible for killing over 100,000 innocents and infecting over 1 million by causing the Las Vegas and Still Creek outbreaks.
    • He and Frank also rescue 9 Phenotrans scientists during their stay.
  • When Katey had disappeared from his home, he never stopped looking for her even if it took 2 years before he saw her again.
  • He aids Nick Ramos in stopping John Hemlock who wanted to cause outbreaks all over the world to keep it in a state of martial law in order to rule it, saving billions of lives.
  • Expresses a lot of remorse for becoming a crime lord and tells Nick that he doesn't want to be a bad guy anymore and wants to redeem himself.

What Makes Him Inconsistent[]

  • He becomes a fallen hero at some point in time before the events of Dead Rising 3 as Chuck turned to crime in order to pay off Katey's zombrex, not caring about who he has to hurt or rob in the process.
  • He treats Gary badly in Dead Rising 3 as he disregards Gary's nihilistic illness he got after he lost his wife Rhonda Kreske, doesn't respect the work Gary puts in for him, and tells Nick and Annie the only reason he didn't kill Gary after he abandoned his duties was because he had "never seen the fat bastard so happy" when Gary was reunited with Rhonda.
