The Chosen One is a person who is told by prophecy or some other means that it is their destiny to save the world/galaxy/solar system/universe, defeat some great evil or do an outstandingly heroic deed. It's common to Inconsistently Admirable who are this to be fallen or try to avoid their destiny, before eventually fulfilling it.
