Whatcha gonna do I am not your hero, I am just a dumbass with a IQ of zero.
~ Mario during the WOTFI 2022 rap.
Why must the fate of the world always end up in the hands of an idiot?
~ Grim referring to Billy.
I was stupid. So stupid.
~ Sayaka Miki before her transformation into a witch.
Robin: You're not smart
Beast Boy: What!? Yes, I am! I get smarterer everyday!
~ Robin proves Beast Boy's low intelligence

Inconsistently Admirable heroes who are Dimwits and Heroic Idiots that rarely (if ever) use their heads, have no intelligence, or even have little to no wisdom or common-sense at all (the former definition would be better classified as brainless). These characters are depicted as extremely ignorant, reckless, obnoxious, and are very likely to ruin their own plans. However, this is what they lack in the brain, they are more than making up for in the heart (well, most of them). These heroes follow very few or no orders mostly because they don't seem to understand a word that is said so they do the opposite of what is said without thinking. They are the complete opposite of Masterminds, which are considered the most intelligent characters of fiction (however, if certain heroes have intelligent qualities but notably lack in common sense, they should go under Geniuses instead).

However, some of these heroic idiots can be considered NOT particularly dim-witted nor ignorant, as some like Mordecai from Regular Show and Mr. Satan from Dragon Ball, for example, who can often be considered more careless, silly and sometimes, ignorant or feeble-minded as opposed to outright stupid. However, it is rare for idiots to reach the heights of characters like Patrick Star or Beavis & Butt-Head in terms of stupidity.

Their evil counterparts are dimwitted villains, but it is also possible for an On & Off dimwit to have their stupidity lead them to commit acts so questionable that they cause controversy and can be interpreted as villains.
