~ Nino transforming into Carapace. |
Nino Lahiffe is one of the four deuteragonists (alongside Tikki, Plagg and Alya Césaire) of the animated superhero romance series Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir. He is the current wielder of the Turtle Miraculous which, when inhabited by the kwami Wayzz, can transform him into Carapace, a turtle-themed superhero. He is the best friend of Adrien and the boyfriend of Alya.
In the French original audio, he was voiced by Alexandre Nguyen. In English, he was voiced by Ben Diskin for Seasons 1 through 3 and currently voiced by Zeno Robinson for Miraculous World: New York – United HeroeZ and onwards.
His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Admirable?[]
- He is a good friend to Adrien and always supports him.
- In "The Bubbler", he tries to convince Gabriel to allow Adrien to throw a birthday party so that he will be happy, though to no avail. Even though he was akumatized in the episode, it was for an understandable reason.
- In "Simon Says", he refused to leave the Agreste mansion without Adrien, further proving how much he cares for him.
- While he didn't believe Marinette and Adrien's word that Lila was a liar, the narrative doesn't present this as corrupting, since Lila is EXCELLENT at lying. Also, unlike Alya, he doesn't know that Marinette is Ladybug, making this even more understandable. In a deleted scene from "Confrontation", he apologizes to Marinette for not believing her.
- When he receives the Turtle Miraculous, he has accomplished many admirable things, such as: Helping defeat Anansi; stopping Hawk Moth from taking Ladybug and Cat Noir's Miraculouses by throwing his shield at him; helping defeat Mega Leech; stopping the revived dinosaurs from running wild through the city; saving an entire building full of civilians from the destruction caused in "Strikeback"; helping defeat Illustrhater, etc.
- He regrets his actions in "Rocktear".
- In the fifth season, he gathers the former heroes to form the Resistance to help Ladybug even without their Miraculouses.
- Along with the Resistance, he stops MonarchBug from defeating Ladybug and stops Nightormentor from defeating Cat Noir.
- He leads the Resistance to remove Chloé from power and save Ladybug and Cat Noir.
- Along with Alya, he tries to investigate clues about Chrysalis in season six.
- Even with Miraculous Ladybug's admirable high standards, he stands out for having stopped Hawk Moth from obtaining the Miraculouses and for founding the Resistance, which would have been of great help.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- He commits many questionable actions in the fourth and fifth seasons. Out of paranoia that Alya was cheating on him with Cat Noir, he betrays both Ladybug and Alya's trust in one fell swoop by revealing to Adrien that they were Rena Rouge and Carapace, violating the secret identity rule. This, in turn, would undermine Adrien's trust in Ladybug and lead to most of the problems their partnership has had this season.
- In "Illusion", he tries to purposefully cause an akumatization for his plans, humiliating Gabriel in public without thinking about the possible consequences. This, in turn, also makes him very incompetent and too reckless to be Near Pure Good.
Trivia[]
- Carapace is one of the Miraculous characters who are Inconsistently Admirable, the another ones being Plagg and Queen Bee.
