Benjamin Krupp, also known as his superhero alter-ago Captain Underpants, is the titular deuteragonist of the Captain Underpants book series.
He’s a superhero comic book character created by George Beard and Harold Hutchins who later became real after the duo hypnotized their principal, Mr. Krupp, into believing that he is Captain Underpants. The hypnotic suggestion became permanent after George and Harold doused his head with water. Now, whenever Mr. Krupp hears the sound of a finger snap, he is instantly brainwashed into becoming Captain Underpants once again.
His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Admirable?[]
- He, along with George and Harold, saved the world from being taken over by villains multiple times.
- He is protective of George and Harold, always saving them from danger when he has the chance.
- He returns to his superstate after George and Harold make a comic and force Captain Underpants to read it so he can defeat Wedgie Woman and her robots. The comic explains that as a child, Captain Underpants swallowed a magic amulet that allowed him to instantly fight off the powers of starch.
- He ends up rescuing Ms. Anthrope from the Bionic Booger Boy, even if it would mean losing his cape.
- He defeats the Robo-Boogers by standing on top of John's House of Toilets and doing an annoying dance, making Robo-Boogers start to climb up the building, where they get hit by a well-placed Squishy.
- The end of book 9 reveals that if he hadn't been created, the villains from the first 3 books would've turned Earth into a apocalyptic nightmare.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- He has serious moral agency issues due to being Mr. Krupp under hypnosis, causing him to be compelled to act like the comic book character Captain Underpants specifically as written. An example of this is his weakness to starch spray, which immediately disappears when seeing that his comic backstory was altered.
- This also technically makes Captain Underpants a hero by proxy as he only desires to be heroic because he was hypnotised.
- His split personality being the cruel and abusive Mr. Krupp makes him On & Off and prevents him from being Near Pure Good.
- He has a small selfish moment in Book 9, where he leaves George and Harold with Tippy Tinkletrousers just so he could buy himself a cape.
