You are just like my wife, she always hide her pain under the humor, i never can't do so, she is dead because of me!
~ Cable to Wade Wilson.
Your time's up, you dumb f*ck.
~ Cable's most famous quote.
You aren't a f*cking hero. You're just a clown, dressed up like a sex toy.
~ Cable mocking Deadpool.

Nathan Summers, also known as Cable, is the deuteragonist of the 2018 film Deadpool 2. He is a cyborg soldier from the future who teamed up with Deadpool to prevent a future where Russell becomes a dangerous villain.

He is portrayed by Josh Brolin, who also played younger Agent K in Men in Black III.

His Good Ranking[]

What Makes Him Admirable?[]

  • As a soldier, he fought in many wars, and later joined the Special Forces, but later left and became a mercenary.
  • He met and fell in love with a girl named Aliya, and they had a daughter, Hope. Cable was a very loving and caring family man.
  • He was very sad when his Aliyah and Hope were killed by the mutant Firefist, so he went back in time to kill Firefist and save his family in the future.
  • Although he was initially hostile to Deadpool and his allies, and even tried to kill them, he did so only because Deadpool was interfering with his goal, and later Cable teamed up with him to defeat Russell (the Firefist as a child).
  • He gave Deadpool a few seconds to convince Russell not to become a villain, and when that failed, Cable shot Russell because he believed it was the only way to save his family.
  • Thanks to him, Deadpool managed to convince Russell not to become a villain, which saved the future and allowed Cable's family to survive.
  • He felt great sympathy for Deadpool, who was dying from his shot, and went back in time to save him, which he eventually did, despite the fact that it prevented him from going back to the future to see his family, but he accepted it because he knew that they were alive.

What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]

  • He is too anti-heroic in his actions, and in order to achieve his goal, he is not hesitant to commit questionable acts, such as dealing with two innocent people and stealing their pickup truck, robbing a gun store, and so on.
  • He is too violent and lethal, as throughout the film he killed many people who got in his way without remorse. He also had no problem killing a child, and he would have killed Russell if Deadpool hadn't managed to convince him not to become a villain.
  • Sometimes he's too jerkish, especially when dealing with Deadpool, who often annoys him.
