| “ | You gotta be ready to listen to your children, even if they have nothing to say. | „ |
| ~ Buck Cluck |
Buck Cluck is one of the three tritagonists (alongside Runt of the Litter and Fish out of Water) of Disney's 46th full-length feature film Chicken Little.
He is the widowed husband of Chloe Cluck and the father of Chicken Little, who often feels ashamed of his son's supposed antics, even though he still loves his child unconditionally. Because of this, the two have developed a complex father-son relationship, one which would culminate into Buck himself realizing the error of his ways and reconciling with his son.
He was voiced by the late Garry Marshall.
His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Admirable?[]
- Despite being a bit of a neglectful father towards Chicken Little and often doesn't believed in him, most of this is to make sure that the town doesn't look at them like if they were crazy, showing only disappointment in his son, and he later on regrets these decisions and decides to become a much better parent towards him, showing he actually care about his son despite being neglectful to him.
- He congratulates his son on winning the baseball game and makes attempts to get closer to him.
- After realizing that his son was right about the alien spaceship, he tries to get him into the car for them to evacuate the town, and even makes every effort to chase him down to take him with him during his escape.
- After Chicken Little calls out Buck for being an neglectful parent, Buck himself doesn't blame his son, and instead takes the blame into himself for being an irresponsible father, and apologizes to him for his lack of parental support and reconcile with him.
- He helps Chicken Little make a plan to return Kirby to his parents by getting to Town Hall and delivering him to stop the alien invasion, and even helps him navigate the chaotic streets in the middle of the invasion to do so.
- He fights off the aliens from getting to his son so that they deliver Kirby to his parents safely.
- He calls out Melvin for neglecting his son like he has, and for accidentally abandoning him, and tells him to take better care of him, allowing him to pass the in-story baseline.
- He congratulates his son on saving the town on the alien invasion, and starts to become a better father towards him.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- He is too jerkish to count as NPG as throughout the film, since he constantly neglected his own son, doesn't believed in him and absolutely doesn't do anything to stop the citizens from tormenting Chicken Little after the acorn incident for an entire year. While this was to make sure the town doesn't look at them as crazy people and has later regrets his actions, the ends do not justify the means.
- He told his son to shut up when he thought that he mistakes a hexagon panel from an alien spaceship he saw for an acorn because the situation was too embarrassing and mistook this as an exaggeration, which makes him partially responsible for the mock-film based on his son.
- He tells his own son to keep his hopes low, and to make sure he's not ever seen.
- He tells his son to not tell him anything before he could explain about his and Foxy's quarrel.
- He doesn't do anything to support his son during the baseball game and even expected him to fail.
- He refused to believe his son when he tried to warned the town about the alien spaceship, which ended up lowering his self-esteem, though he did it just to avoid being seen as crazy like his son.
- Even after he believed him, he was initially skeptical about listening to his son as well, showing that he's also a coward.
- He is also a jerk to other people as well, such as he made a tasteless joke about how rabbits' feet are supposed to be lucky, when one got trampled, though he apologized for this. He also made an argument with a woman when she said profanity words.
