“ | Once again, brain triumphs over brawn. | „ |
~ Bentley after defeating Jean Bison. |
“ | Enough with the sauce! | „ |
~ Bentley's famous quote. |
Bentley is the deuteragonist of the Sly Cooper franchise. He is a super intelligent turtle, and the brains of the Sly Gang. At the end of Sly 2, he becomes crippled and confined to a wheelchair, though, with his genius inventions, he built a wheelchair so advanced to the point he's more capable with it than without it.
He was voiced by Matt Olsen.
His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Admirable?[]
- He helped Sly throughout his missions in Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus by giving him valuable info and even saving his life by shutting down the gas that Clockwerk tried using to kill him and Carmelita at one point.
- He plans all the heists that the gang takes part in, with almost all of them being successful and resulting in the villain's defeats.
- Broke Sly and Murray out of Contessa's prison, and Murray out of his hypnosis, despite feeling insecure about his abilities.
- He defeated Jean Bison (who gave all the Clockwerk parts to Arpeggio) using his wits.
- Removed the hate chip from Clock-La, at the cost of his legs.
- Is horrified when Octavio floods an aquarium with tar and killing all its fish.
- Told Murray he didn't and never blamed him for the incident that left him in a wheelchair.
- Distracted Octavio by challenging to singing recital while Sly snuck above him to cut down the chandelier he was standing under.
- Helped Sly stop Carmelita in a nonlethal way by giving him the idea of tricking her into knocking the supernatural Mask of Dark Earth off herself, rather than directly attacking her.
- Helped Murray protect the plane from Muggshot that Sly needed to fight the Black Baron by using traps.
- Led Muggshot into a fight with Carmelita by insulting his mother.
- Helped Penelope get back to the safe house after she accidentally became blinded by dust.
- Rejected Dr. M's lies about Sly using him.
- When he noticed pages of the Thievius Raccoonus were disappearing, he informed Sly and Murray of the situation and had them travel to the past with the time machine he built to stop the Cooper line from being erased.
- When Penelope, his love interest, betrayed him and the gang, he tried to redeem her, warning her that Le Paradox isn't trustworthy and might turn on her.
- Brings back all of Sly's ancestors to break Sly and Carmelita out of Le Paradox's captivity.
- After Sly disappears, he and Murray went looking for him and never gave up.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- He can be somewhat mischievous at times.
- He can be pretty cruel as he had Murray feed several miners alive to a giant crocodile in "Hungry Croc" and had Sly steal a pirate's pegleg for a costume without remorse despite being disabled himself. Sly himself found the former harsh and Murray outright stated that the latter plan was sinister. Bentley even says he prides himself on deviousness after he had Sly instigate a street war between Carmelita's gorilla mercenaries and Octavio's henchmen in hopes of the latter being taken out.
- Like Murray, he helps Sly steal from non-criminals from time to time.
