"I am vengeance! I am the night! I am BATMAN!
~ Batman's most famous quote

Bruce Wayne, better known as Batman, is one of the main protagonists of the DC Animated Universe.

After his parents were murdered Bruce Wayne decided to fight against crime by taking up mantle of Batman and acting as a vigilante so that no kid would have to go through what he went through. Though he can seem cold and callous at times, even to his allies, Bruce cares deeply about those around him and will go to great lengths for them. Bruce later becomes a member of the Justice League in their show and acts as a mentor to Terry McGinnis when he takes over as Batman in Batman Beyond.

He was voiced by the late Kevin Conroy, who also voiced his Arkhamverse counterpart.

His Good Ranking[]

What Makes Him Admirable?[]

  • He protected Gotham from many dangerous threats, such as the Joker, Mr. Freeze, and Two-Face and defeated them as well.
  • He saves the villains he defeats and takes them into Arkham Asylum and refuses to kill them as well.
  • He took Dick Grayson in after his parents were murdered and assured him that their deaths were not his fault.
  • Even after Harvey Dent became Two-Face, Bruce still cared about him and hoped he could redeem himself.
  • When Mr. Freeze accidentally freezes one of his henchmen and abandons him, Batman goes out of his way to save the man.
  • He saves Harvey Bullock's life from Killer Croc.
  • Agreed to help Bullock deduce who was trying to kill him and saved him from his landlord Nivens when he turned out to be the culprit.
  • He helped to make mob boss Arnold Stromwell change by making him see the error of his ways.
  • He saved his childhood caretaker and family friend Leslie Thompkins from dying in a explosion after she looked for him prior.
  • Saved Mayor Hill from Clock King.
  • Rescued Hill's son Jordan from Joker.
  • He comforts Baby-Doll when she breaks down in front of him.
  • Stopped Joker from nuking Gotham.
  • He risks his life by going into a burning oil rig to save Freeze.
  • Teamed up with Freeze to stop Grant Walker from freezing most of the world.
  • He tried to help Arnold Wesker by giving him a job and helped him break free of Scarface's control.
  • He helped Joker's henchman Connor sort his life out by giving him a job at Wayne Enterprises.
  • Despite Harley Quinn being a villain who has never been anything but trouble for him, Batman still tried to help her when the police were after her due to a misunderstanding.
  • Tried to reason with Two-Face at first.
  • Stopped Freeze from freezing all of gotham.
  • Stopped Robin from killing Clayface.
  • He revealed to Harley Quinn that the Joker never loved her that he was lying to her the whole time though it doesn’t last long.
  • Along with the rest of the league, he stopped the white Martian invasion.
  • He helped the league to stop their evil counterparts, the Justice Lords, from taking over the earth.
    • During this time he also convinced his lord counterpart to change their ways by making them see how disappointed his parents would have been in him.
  • He played a vital role in helping to to stop the Thanagarian invasion, nearly sacrificing his life in the process.
  • He helps in saving Flash from being trapped in the Speed Force.
  • Convinced Superman to help Darkseid save the people on Apokolips despite his friend's reluctance.
  • Despite all of Lex Luthor's crimes, Batman saved him from Darkseid.
  • He gives the Legion of Doom a 5-mimute headstart as a reward for their part in saving the world from Darkseid.
  • When Ace warped reality Batman talked her into changing things back and stayed with her in her final moments to give her comfort instead of killing her as Amanda Waller told him to.
  • He saved Bunny Vreeland from kidnappers who held her for ransom.
  • When Ace the dog was injured, defending Bruce from being mugged by the Jokerz, Bruce saved him and adopted him as his pet.
  • He defended Terry from the Jokerz gang.
  • He allowed Terry to go after Derek Powers and stop him from shipping off nerve gas as he empathized with Terry's desire to avenge the death of his father.
  • When Melanie Walker and her family are arrested, Bruce comforts Terry.
  • While he refused to save Ian Peek from his fate, this was pure laser-guide karma for Ian, as
    • 1. Ian is a sneezy reporter who killed a good friend of Bruce and stole his vibra-space belt for fame and power. He left the creator Nabuo Taka to his fate of being burned alive, showing no remorse whatsoever.
    • 2. Ian tried to expose both his and Terry's identities to the world and even laughs at Terry when he begged him not to do it.
    • 3. Bruce couldn't have any resources to help Ian immediately as the tech he stole was years ahead of its time.
  • After Terry saved Gotham from the Joker Bruce gave him words of encouragement, urging Terry to not to be too hard himself for his past mistakes.
  • At some unknown point he was able to deduce that Terry was his biological son, though he initially chose not to tell him out of respect for his partial father, Warren, while also wanting him to become his own man.

What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]

  • As with most versions, he can be a jerk to his allies at times. By the time of Batman Beyond he has become alienated from pretty much anyone who ever cared about him out of depression and trauma, though he does patch up his old relationships as the show went on.
  • He roughed up a young man in front of his wife and son. This appalled Dick Grayson and contributed to him becoming Nightwing, though he did realize his mistake in the end.
  • There have been situations where he's abandoned his no-kill rule:
    • He attempted to murder Joker by throwing a knife at his head for torturing Tim Drake to insanity, promising to "break [him] in two". Though considering what Joker did to Tim, a child, and how much turmoil he put him in over the years, it's justified to say the least.
    • He wanted to use lethal force on Sewer King, though it's understandable for his actions against children.
  • He briefly shut off the batsuit after Terry stole it, leaving him at the mercy of guards that were going to kill him. However, he does change his mind and lets Terry carry on with his plan, so this isn't a big prevention.
  • He trapped Chronos in an endless time loop of his wife insulting him.
