Android 17 is one of the two secondary antagonists (alongside Android 18) of the Android Saga and a minor character in the remainder of Dragon Ball Z as well as a major supporting character in Dragon Ball Super. Initially going with his older twin sister, Android 18 to wreck havoc and fighting the Z Warriors, he redeemed himself and fought Cell, as well as becoming a ranger.
He is voiced by Shigeru Nakahara in Japanese and Chuck Huber in English.

Cell Saga[]
- Protected 16 and 18 several times against Dr. Gero.
- Killed Dr. Gero, who used his inventions to terrorize the planet and kidnapped them to perform experiments ( though he mostly did this out of personal reasons, not out of moral reasons).
- After he and 18 defeat Piccolo, Tien, Vegeta, and Future Trunks, the twins and 16 simply spare Krillin's life. He even encourages him to give the defeated Z Fighters some Senzu Beans. They also didn't kill Vegeta and the others when they clearly could've given the power gap at the time.
- When Cell unexpectedly arrived during his battle with Piccolo, he was rather disturbed as Cell was powering up, seeing the many people Cell had absorbed along the way. This shows that 17 always had morals, even when it wasn't personal like with Dr Gero.
- Helped Piccolo and 16 fight Cell, refusing to be absorbed by the bio-mechanical android.
Majin Buu Saga[]
- After Cell was killed, 17 redeemed himself by becoming an park ranger and protecting the wildlife from poachers, becoming their savior.
- He donated his energy for Goku in order for the latter to defeat Kid Buu.
Dragon Ball Super[]
Tournament of Power Saga[]
- Started a family and even adopted two children.
- Accepted Goku's proposal to join the Tournament of Power.
- The reason from the anime version is Goku help him stop the space poachers.
- His reason from the manga version is that he owed Krillin a favor and he's very grateful that Krillin had Shenron remove the bombs that Dr. Gero implanted inside him & 18.
- In manga, he ironically reedems Cell Juniors.
- In anime, while he attacked three of Universe 2 fighters in middle of their transformations, this is only because his universe is at stake.
- Saved Android 18 from Anilasa.
- Saved Frieza (despite being evil) from being eliminated by Toppo.
- Attempted to sacrifice himself to save Goku and Vegeta from getting ringed out by Jiren, and even though he survived it, he was not sure he would do so.
- Helped Frieza and Goku ring out Jiren in order to save Universe 7.
- Despite initially wanting to wish for a boat, 17 later wished for the erased universes to be revived. This act also indirectly saved the multiverse from Zeno as he determined that mortals can truly be virtuous if given a chance.
Galactic Patrol Prisoner Saga[]
- He assisted the Z Fighters to take down Moro and his army.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- Has too much pride and overestimates his own power, even after Cell absorbed him. He also mocked and toyed with his enemies in the Tournament of Power, so he retains this corrupting quality even after reforming.
- He is lethal towards his enemies despite some of them not being able to harm him.
- While he donates his energy for Goku to defeat Kid Buu, 17 uses a gun to point at two random men. This a minor prevention because 17 knew that anyone that are not close or associate with Goku or Vegeta would be reluctant to donate their energy and fate of the universe was at sake.
- Even though fighting for a good cause in Super, he still walks a very thin line of being an anti-hero, as he changed little in terms of personality.
- Has bouts of frustration when things doesn't go exactly as planned such as insulting his enemies when they prove to be resilient to his attacks and lambasting his allies when they're careless.
