Altair ibn La-Ahad is a main protagonist in the video games Assassin's Creed, Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines, Assassin's Creed: Altaïr's Chronicles, and is a overarching protagonist in Assassin's Creed: Revelations. He is Master Assassin and Mentor from the Syrian Brotherhood of Assassins, as well as the ancestor of Desmond Miles.
He is voiced by Philip Shahbaz. In the Japanese dub of the games, he was voiced by Katsuyuki Konishi.

What Makes Him Admirable?[]
- As a child, he accused the assassin Ahmad Sofian of murdering his father.
- After that, he met Ahmad's son, Abbas, and they became best friends. One evening, Altair told Abbas the truth about his father, but he did not believe it and the next day at training he wanted to kill Altair.
- He managed to get into the fortress and free Al-Mualim from the invading Templars, as well as kill the traitor Haras.
- During the search for the «Cup of Eden», which can unite all factions under one flag, and could also rule the Holy Land, he learns that the Cup is not an object, but a person, a woman named Ada. He falls in love with Ada and kills Basilisk, the grand master of the Templar Order, but Ada is taken away on a Templar ship and then killed. In his code, he wrote that «he will never be able to love a woman as he loved her».
- During a surprise attack by the Templar army, he evacuated civilians and defeated his enemies without much numerical loss.
- Over time, he fully regains his status and equipment, the final target in the chain of murders was the master of the order, Robert de Sable, whose capture became a very important task: it was Robert who told Altair the true intentions of the teacher and the role of Altair in the execution of his insidious plans.
- He arrived at the fortress of Masyaf, where a deadly battle took place between him and Al-Mualim, during which Altair emerged victorious, thereby thwarting the villainous plans of his teacher.
- He is betrayed by his long-time detractor and rival Abbas, who takes away the Apple, but Abbas was not ready for his strength, and Altair manages to take away the Apple and save the opponent from his strength.
- Two months later, he goes to Cyprus to stop the new grand master of the Templars, Armand Bouchard. Helping the local resistance by killing Bouchard's associates, two years later, Altair kills Bouchard.
- While traveling to Cyprus, he falls in love with Maria Thorpe, who has defected to the assassins. Soon Altair and Maria get married, after which they have a son, Darim, in 1195, and then a second son, Sef, in 1197.
- In 1217, he decides that Genghis Khan's empire threatens the world, in addition, the assassin suspects that the emperor is using another piece of Eden — the Sword. Together with Maria and Darim, they travel to Mongolia to stop the conqueror. Together with the local assassin Kulan Gal, they manage to kill Genghis Khan, but it took 8 years.
- When Abbas seized power over Masyaf and accused Malik of the murders, Altair did not believe in his friend's guilt, and releases him from prison, who tells him that Sefa killed Swami, but Swami kills Malik, framing Altair. Abbas demands to give him the Apple of Eden, but Altair uses it against them, forcing Swami to commit suicide. But as a result of the ensuing skirmish, Maria dies, and Altair escapes to Alamut with Darim.
- In 1247, he returned to Masyaf and decided to raise an uprising with the help of Tazim, the son of Malik, and other assassins loyal to Altair. In the end, Altair kills Abbas with a concealed pistol and regains power over the order.
- Left alone after the evacuation from the besieged city, he goes to a secret library, where he hides the Apple of Eden and dies of old age in an armchair with a memory seal in his hands. In this room, centuries later, he will be found by the Renaissance assassin, Ezio Auditore da Firenze.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- Like any other assassin, he is incredibly deadly, as he kills his victims in rather brutal ways, although they mostly deserve it.
- He was the most arrogant and rude of the Assassins. His pride is also considered his main flaw, making him an anti-hero.
- Sometimes he ignored the tenets of the Brotherhood for his own selfish purposes, and Malik's brother died because of him. Although Altair later tried to make amends.
