Alastor, also known as the Radio Demon, is the tritagonist of the adult animated comedy drama musical series Hazbin Hotel.
He is one the most powerful Overlords in Hell, Vox's archenemy, Husk and Niffty's boss and Lucifer Morningstar's arch-rival.
He is voiced by Amir Talai in the main series, and was voiced by Edward Bosco and Gabriel C. Brown (while singing) in the pilot.
His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Admirable?[]
- In the prequel comic A Day In The Afterlife, he saved a sheep demon from being assaulted by a butcher, showing he's willing to stand up for those who can't defend themselves, albeit in his own twisted way.
Pilot[]
- Even though it was to follow Rosie's orders, he still showed up at Charlie's hotel and offered to help her in her mission when no one else did.
- Although his actions were initially pragmatic, he admits before the battle against the exorcists to feeling a certain affection for them, temporarily subverting his pragmatism.
- He summons Husk and Nifty as employees for the hotel.
- He destroys Sir Pentious' ship when he was attacking the hotel.
- Offers to cook everyone jambalaya, mentioning there was a recipe that his mother showed him. Showing how much he values her.
Season 1[]
- He tried to help the hotel by making a commercial and later made a deal with Vaggie to help her make a new one that could truly express their mission, even getting involved with TV despite hating it.
- He defends the Hotel from Sir Pentious once again when he attacks a week later.
- He leaves some shadow creatures to fix the damage Pentious had done to the hotel.
- He tried to get rid of the Egg Bois in a humane way per Vaggie's request.
- He sent Frank to spy on Carmilla amd Zestiel's conversation after the Overlord meeting through which he found out that angels can be killed, which would ultimately prove vital in Adam's defeat in the finale.
- When the loan sharks attacked the hotel in search of Mimzy, he protected it once more by slaughtering them all.
- He tells Mimzy to leave because her presence brought danger to the hotel and she clearly didn't want redemption, showing he has some level of care for the hotel.
- He made a deal with Charlie in order to tell her angels can be killed.
- He took Charlie to Rosie in Cannibal town so she could recruit the cannibals to their cause, and lent her his mic staff for the speech.
- During a conversation with Nifty he reveals to have gotten attached to the others in the hotel.
- During the extermination he put up a shield around the hotel keeping Adam, Lute and many other Exorcists out and giving the others a fighting chance.
- After Adam broke through, Alastor confronted and fought him, keeping him at bay while the other Exorcists were killed, up until he was critically injured and fled to avoid being killed.
- He returns to the Hotel after his nervous breakdown.
Season 2[]
- He makes a deal with Vox, to let Husk and Nifty go and stop interfering with Charlie, in exchange for his surrender, although it's implied he has arterial motives.
- He manipulates Vox, to antagonize the other Vees so he can destroy them from the inside.
- He saves Charlie from Vox when he gets himself free of all his deals and fights him once and for all.
- Along with the Hotel staff and the Overlords, he destroys Vox's cannon, the Might of Lilith, before it overrides, saving both Heaven and Hell as a result. Even if he only did it for Rosie to fix his stuff is still admirable considering he could just leave.
- He returns to the Hotel as the host even if it doesn't entertain him anymore due to its success although it seems he has nefarious plans involving his rival Lucifer.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- His heroic deeds are pragmatic and self-serving since he's only helping Charlie for his own sadistic entertainment since he lacked inspiration and under the orders of Rosie.
- He is immensely lethal, as even when alive, he was already a serial killer with several victims (one of which he killed only for dropping wine on his sleeve and not apologizing) and after arriving in Hell, he murdered several overlords and broadcasted their screams all over Hell before revealing himself responsible, showing himself to be a massive sadist. Mimzy even states that there was always a new victim in each broadcast, and he is still lethal to this day, as demonstrated when he brutally murdered all the loan sharks in horrible ways that even Charlie notices are unpleasant.
- He has devoured demons that he deems are inferior to him, showing he's a cannibal.
- His ownership of Husk's soul is shown to have a notable effect on him as he suffers while on Alastor's leash and has little to no free will, not to mention Alastor takes sadistic enjoyment in Husk's suffering and considers him as a pet. At one point, when Husk points out that Rosie owns his soul too, Alastor threatens to murder him and broadcast his screams over Hell if he ever says it again.
- He is incredibly jerkish and narcissistic and cares for nearly no one but himself outside Mimzy, Niffty and (at least in some way) Charlie, repeatedly mocking others for his own amusement.
- His politeness to Rosie is only superficial as she is the one who owns his soul.
- He constantly riled up and provoked Lucifer during his visit to the hotel and during a song said that Charlie is like his daughter just for the sake of annoying Lucifer.
- His rivalry with Vox is too antagonistic on both ends as Alastor is shown to take great pleasure in besting him, and publicly threatened him in a broadcast to all of Hell. While Vox did instigate it by attempting to slander the Radio Demon on his TV programs and overall deserved to be humiliated, Alastor's response is portrayed as even more horrific and needlessly sadistic.
- It's also revealed that their rivalry started due to Alastor cruelly rejecting his offer to become partners despite Vox's complete admiration and all but stated romantic feelings for him, laughing at the idea that Vox, then Vincent, thought they were truly friends.
- Despite admitting in the Season 1 finale that he's beginning to grow a genuine bond with the inhabitants of the Hotel or at least show fondness towards them, he decides to set this aside during the "Finale" song and declares that once he is free, he will be the one "pulling all the strings", utterly mocking and hating the fact that he almost died for his friends. To him, friendship is a weakness and he will forsake it for power's sake.
- After his defeat by Adam, he became an unhelpful jerk to the hotel out of pettiness until he quitted. It's also possible that he only came to the Hotel because Rosie sent him to as a part of a larger scheme making him a reluctant hero. After getting free from his deal with Rosie, Alastor is willing to let everyone die from Vox's cannon and only agrees to help after Rosie agrees to fix his staff, further proving this, to the other Overlord's disgust and respect.
- This would kill not only Charlie, Vaggie, Husk and Angel, but also would kill Niffty, someone who has a positive relationship with him, and Emily who saved his life.
Trivia[]
- He is currently the only Hellaverse character to be Inconsistently Admirable.
- Due to his devious nature and extremely enigmatic motivations, plans and goals, this status could very easily change during future seasons. If his heinous deeds and soon to be known plan eventually overshadow his good deeds, especially since his "good deeds" were revealed to be under Rosie's orders, he may be proposed as Near Pure Evil or even Pure Evil. It's also hinted to be the main antagonist of Season 3 which could get his page here deleted.
