Ainz Ooal Gown is the main protagonist of the Overlord franchise. He is the sole remaining Supreme Being from YGGDRASIL who was teleported into their world once the game ended, thus making him the ruler of Nazarick and its NPCs who later gained sentience. Despite his villainous actions, Ainz has performed multiple heroic actions in his journey to find other players.
He is voiced by Satoshi Hino in Japanese and Chris Guerro in English.
His Good Ranking[]
In General[]
- Ainz is unfailingly polite, loves all his subordinates like his own children, keeps any deal he offers (unless they try to double cross him or someone who isn't trustworthy which is rare), and wants to create a utilitarian utopia where all races can live peacefully together.
- As Momon, he goes out of his way to never seem arrogant or condescending except when it comes to confidence in his own abilities, which is a selling point. It's a deliberately cultivated image so that he can become as popular as possible and then try to pass that esteem back to his 'real' self when he's Momon.
What Makes Him Admirable?[]
- While he did refuse at first, he eventually saved Carne Village from the Sunset Scripture out of replaying Touch Me's kindness to him.
- Become an Adventurer as Momon with Narberal Gamma where they would help the Swords of Darkness, fight against Clementine and Zorbon trying to turning E-Rantel into an city of undead.
- Allowed Coyctus to spare the Lizardmen and train them as loyal followers.
- Apologized to Jirtiv when Demiurge attempted to make them kneel as respect.
- Founded the Sorcerer Kingdom where he would unite some species where he did reforms like mass farming, forming an orphanage, and education systems.
- Rescued the Dwarves from the Quadga.
- Protected the Re-Estate Kingdom as Momon and Holy Kingdom from Demons as himself. Even reviving Neia Baraja where he would inspire her and help her giving her an Runebow arrow.
- He protected the Dark Elves from harm for sake of Aura and Mare when the Dark Elf Kingdom Neglected them.
What Makes Him Inconsistent?[]
- He spends most of his time is an On & Off Villain who done enough heinous acts to be an Inconsistently Heinous Villain such as multiple acts of terrorism and mass genocide.
- He has too many corruptions to be PG or even an NPG:
- He is extremley lethal as he kills his opponents without remorse even those who deserved it.
- In Volume 12/Holy Kingdom Movie, he casts a Fireball spell at a demi-human using a human child as a hostage, killing them both. He rationalizes that allowing them to get away with using hostages as human shields will encourage them to continue doing so, whereas killing one hostage will lead to a quicker end to hostilities because it shows they won't be deterred. This would also be an bad influence on Neia Baruja to similar things where she had children killed in the name of the greater good.
- He perfectly okay with and allows torture on his opponents or allow Solution to eat humans though he only allow her to eat wicked or bad humans, it is still too corrupting.
- He is an well intended extremist as he will do immoral acts for sake of Narizark and his nation in general.
- Has some jerkish moments towards Pandora's Actor.
- He has been hypocritical at times but is an minor prevention since he admits he can be one at times.
- His emotional suppressing mechanism hinders his ability to feel empathy and emotions giving him moral agency issues.
- Some of his acts were out of pragmatism such as saving the Dwarves from the Quadga or facade such as "defending" Re-Estate and the Holy Kingdom but has did enough genuine acts to not disqualify his IA status. Though any genuine heroism he did were mostly Anti-Heroic acts.
Trivia[]
- Ainz Ooal Gown, Sebas Tian, and Neia Baraja are the only Overlord Inconsistently Admirables so far.
- Ainz is also the only one to be Inconsistently Admirable & Heinous.
- His other versions like his Vampire Princess Nation, Mass of the Undead, and ISEAKI Quartet has not been heroically been morally ranked yet.
